I switched from the "other" practice in Portishead to Watkins because I became unhappy with various things (not the vets as they were always fantastic). I visited for the first time today and was very pleased indeed. I had made an appointment for boosters for my dog but I had accidentally been booked into the Nailsea branch instead of Portishead. The receptionist, who was lovely, apologised then spoke to a vet and they saw me there and then. Mike was excellent: thorough and professional. My dog is a little madam but thankfully she seemed to take a liking to Mike. I was pleasantly surprised when he handed me a voucher for a free check-up in 6 months' time.

This is a very long overdue review of hydrovet, which l have to make as they are absolutely fantastic. My dog Coco visited her regular vet with a suspected injury to her CCL. Following some pain meds we got referred and the lovely Viv did her first consultation with Coco (who was suitably tricky) which included her gait analysis. She then started her hydro and the improvement from day 1 was amazing, and I even think Coco enjoyed it. She had 2 sessions a week for a few months and in that time has gone from very limited exercise and her buggy to having a great summer at the beach, in the pool, and in the woods. Cannot recommend hydro enough and Viv and the team I cannot fault and would always recommend. Without them I do think we'd have been looking at surgery. Looking forward to her ongoing fitness sessions to keep those muscles strong

Very compassionate. Every staff member will do all they can to help. For the most part it's never nice to visit the vets, but this place makes it feel a little easier for you and your fur baby.

Our pup had treatment and we were very happy with the care. It involved a small operation and they gave us photo updates (pupdates!) on WhatsApp before and after surgery, which massively reassured us

Love love love watkins and tasker. They can always fit appointments in with my availability. Staff are really kind and lovely and vets are really well educated and knowledgeable. I travel an hour to get there because I really would never go anywhere else.

Was really impressed with this vets to start with, and was so glad we registered until my dog had to go in for treatment. Mario the vet was so condescending, rude and unhelpful on the phone, I don't want to ever go here again which is such a shame because everyone else is lovely. I booked my dog in for a right hind examination, and Mario in error wrote she came in for limping on her left, then of course all issues were found on exam and xrays with her right. But now the insurance thinks all symptoms were on the left side so they won't cover treatment and my dog is going to suffer and have her life cut short because of someone else's mistake. Called the vets to correct the notes, and Mario was extremely rude, unhelpful and basically said I am a liar because he can't remember the consultation and refused to change the notes. To say I'm fuming is an understatement. I am now desperately trying to find evidence that I booked in for her right as a last attempt at getting my dog the help she needs. After working in a vet practice for years, I know how the system works and how easy it is to make a mistake when you see that many animals a day. But I know for a fact that Mario was just being extremely difficult and arrogant, and his ego was too large to admit he was wrong. Steer well clear. Update as I can't reply to the comment below: Not one word I stated above is false. It's very much still unresolved, and a battle with the insurance in the process 8 weeks on from the incident. So not sure where the information from the comment below came from... I will accept that the insurance team are being helpful but all this has been caused by carelessness of a vet! Should have been a simple straight forward claim.

Couldn't be more happier with the vet Amy we seen, she was great and my cat is now recovering from surgery. Thank you! Operation didn't work but Amy and staff have been great with everything can't thank them enough.

The staff here are kind, helpful, knowledgeable and have a lot of patience. My dog was nervous returning to vets however they booked us a session where they sat with him, fussed, played and gave him treats to make him calm and associate happy thoughts with the vets - all without having any other paid appointment scheduled. Amazing staff!

I had a scare with my puppy today and they were brilliant. They got me an appointment as soon as I could get there, we’re really calm and reassuring and thankfully they helped him back on the mend by the end of the day. All the staff are friendly and professional and really spoilt my dog. I cannot rate them highly enough, I live on the other side of Bristol and still want to travel to Portishead to stay with this vets.
