   Signed up on a 12-month fixed deal and the gym failed to honour the agreed amount. I was at the gym for 3 months and they tried to increase the price by 8% out of line with inflation. Worst still they said I had to pay the new higher rate for the next 9 months before cancelling. After a few emails explaining consumer law they did back down and let me leave the gym. Lesson for Nuffield, please do not offer deals you can't honour and then not let customers leave if you put the price up. Note there is also issues at this gym with a few pieces of equipment.

   If i could give a zero rating I would, do not fall for January deals because apparently once you join they make it hard for you leave or freeze membership. So unprofessional and such poor service from what alludes to be a 'premium' brand. I requested a freeze on my membership، was told this was actioned and then still had payments taken. When I contacted the gym about this I was met with sighs and "it's her again" which understandably made me more irate. After escalating this to head office I was then refunded the costs for the period gone, told that training would be given to staff and apologies. Then lo and behold billed again the next month...basically putting me back to square one. It's been a mental workout if nothing else, but not the service that I'd expect from somewhere like this, especially given the cost.

   I have been visiting the Cheam centre for the last 3 months as part of a group working on "Joint Pain Management" and have been extremely pleased with our health coach Steven who has provided me and the group, not only with excellent coaching to improve our fitness with the aim of reducing pain and becoming more active, it has also provided us with logical and much welcomed ideas to make small changes on our day to day activities that are really making a big difference to me and others on the group. The staff at the Cheam center I have met are also very welcoming and friendly and the various exercise machines I have used are very good and simple to use. Would strongly recommend the Cheam centre and Steven to anyone that wants to better manage their joint pain and to also become fitter and healthier.

   The attraction of this gym is in the people - Friendly Sales staff when getting started with a full tour of the facilities, and clear layout of pricing. Great PT team working shifts on the gym floor for members who have questions, and taking both classes and their clients through good quality workouts. Friendly cleaning staff within the building, keeping things in good condition. Front of House Staff can always be approached with questions and queries.

   I use the club everyday and always greeted at reception with a cheery hello, especially Millie and Jenny. I really only use the pool, the water is very clean and well looked after. The aqua instructions are great especially love Lucy Gillian Sandra Sasha and carls classes. I can’t comment on the gym as I rarely venture up there but my husband does and says it’s all good. If a machine isn’t working ask one the PTs for an alternative exercise, they’re there to help so use them! I’ve been a member at most of the gyms over the years and have returned to Nuffield as I think it provides good quality and good value. There are always things that could be improved but if you ask nicely people do take seem notice! (Thank you Michael for ordering additional hair driers!)

   There are some things to address at this club, like some machines not working in the gym or need repairing. Lockers many not working properly. But the staff are very good, very helpful particularly Dee with sorting a suitable workout for me and Kieron with renewing my membership. Front desk always pleasant with a smile.

   I have to agree with the review below by Mr. Ian Gaunt. The gym is going downhill, so run down and dated. I have been a member of this gym for many years, staff are very nice and friendly, parking and location is good. However, toilets and lockers room are dirty and old, things falling apart, gym area looks dated, machines are very old. The place always packed, probably too many members to accommodate. I have not witnessed any refurbishment, new equipment or any sort of maintenance/updating for probably the last 10 years. Recently they permanently closed the spa area, the excuse was energy bills. However we still paying for this service. All in all, this gym was good maybe 10 years ago but it has been clearly run on the cheap and it is starting to show.

   I've just left this gym unfortunately, I've been a member for over 5 years and over that time its gone further and further downhill. Things constantly break whether it be the toilets, showers, gym equipment, steam room, the list goes on. Everyone appreciates things break but its the communication and the time it takes to repair, most recently the men didn't have showers for 2 weeks. The spa is off for 6 months as a cost cutting exercise but they don't pass this on to the members. There are so many budget gyms out there now with the budget cost, this gym is now no better than budget however at a premium gym cost, I wouldn't recommend joining.

   Don’t join! It’s dirty and un-maintained. Equipment is constantly breaking and out of order. Management are incompetent and don’t care about inconvenience to customers. If you want a gym, join somewhere like The Gym or Anytime Fitness which have much better equipment. If you want a pool, join a leisure centre. The spa is basically non-existent so don’t let that sway any decision to join.

   Fantastic gym, with excellent staff, well managed and led by Ian S. They are a well trained and motivated team. Great welcome every time. Facilities and equipment just what I need, at a reasonable price. Half the price of the gym I left with twice the service.
