We were there late at night 8pm in November walking our dog it was pitch black and just great fun and very cool. Probably wouldn't recommend that late in dark unless you have a big dog too
Crane Park Island is a small, peaceful nature reserve in Twickenham, surrounded by the River Crane. It’s perfect for a quiet walk or family visit, with woodland paths, ponds, and plenty of wildlife like kingfishers and dragonflies. The Shot Tower adds a bit of history, open to visitors on Sundays. Trails are mostly flat and easy to follow, with benches and nature info points along the way. Facilities are limited but there’s sometimes a mobile café. A calm, green escape not far from the city.
Fantastic little spot in the middle of a neighborhood. A secret treasure in London. It takes five minutes to drive to Hounslow High Street. The park, which Londoners adore for its natural beauty, can be completed in an hour. Lovely walkways, a mobile coffee truck, and volunteers who keep everything really clean and organized. History of the shot tower is best thing to know My favorite spots to be are the river and the beautiful woodland, which I have been visiting intermittently for years. At Crane Park, I also conduct a weekly parkrun.
Old shot tower was originally used to produce shot for the muskets. Now converted to some sort of community centre. An excellent coffee shop close by at the base of the tower run by a charming young chap selling great coffee and patisaries with seating and blankets if required just for you. Highly recomended.a great stop off point after an easy walk exploring the river Crane.
The best place to walk - it’s magical. Beautiful walks, is kept really clean and tidy by volunteers and the mobile coffee van is lovely - saw a negative review earlier but I find it lovely, fresh and he’s really friendly. Shot tower and history is cool
I visited here in June 2022 as part of walking the London Loop route around London. This is a long park alongside the River Crane and includes a tall tower.
An amazing walk and I never realised it went on for so long. And has an interesting 200 year old folly awaiting you by crane Island. At - 2degree it was a fresh and enjoyable walk
A beautiful park with some nice hidden quiet spots. Fun place to take your kids for a bike ride or for a quiet walk with the dog.
I have enjoyed Crane Park since I was a child, usually starting out at Mill Road In Twickenham and walking west towards the Shot Tower at the Whitton end. This time I ventured further, towards Pevensey Nature Reserve and Hounslow Heath. The surroundings are great but it starts to feel a little isolated the further West you go, and you may feel a little intimidated as a solo walker.
