don’t say this lightly, but this Italian restaurant might genuinely be the greatest dining experience Nottingham has to offer—if not the entire country. From the moment we walked through the door, it felt like stepping straight into a little corner of Italy, transported by warm lighting, soft music, and an atmosphere so inviting it could make anyone feel instantly at home. While I can’t recall exactly what we had for starters (which probably says more about the mains stealing the spotlight than anything else), I do remember that everything placed in front of us was flawless. Fresh, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavour—the kind of food that makes you pause mid-conversation just to appreciate what’s happening on your taste buds. And that was before the star of the show arrived. We both ordered the carbonara for our main course, and I can say without hesitation that it was the best carbonara I have ever tasted—possibly the best pasta dish in existence. It wasn’t just good; it was masterpiece-level. The sauce was silky, rich, and perfectly balanced, clinging to every strand of pasta with a glossy finish that could make even a Roman chef shed a tear. The pancetta was cooked to absolute perfection—crispy at the edges, soft in the centre, and packed with deep, smoky flavour. Every forkful was the kind of moment you wish you could bottle up and save forever. The portion size was ideal: generous without being overwhelming, leaving you satisfied but low-key wishing you had the space for another bowl. It felt like the chef had poured every ounce of passion, skill, and Italian soul into that dish, and it showed. Then there’s the service—honestly some of the best I’ve ever experienced. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely delighted to make the night special. Not the scripted “fake nice” type of service, but the kind where you can tell they take real pride in the restaurant and the food they serve. Drinks were topped up before we even realised they were low, plates cleared with perfect timing, and every interaction felt sincere. It’s rare to find a place where hospitality feels this natural. The atmosphere, the flawless food, the impeccable service—it all came together so perfectly that by the time we left, we were already talking about when we could come back. There are many Italian restaurants out there, but this one sits firmly at the top. If you’re in Nottingham and you don’t visit this place, you’re missing out on a culinary experience that borders on legendary. In short: this isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a Nottingham treasure, an Italian haven, and an absolute must-visit for anyone who appreciates exceptional food done right.

Me and my husband have come to amores nearly every Friday for 10 years and come most Christmas’s too. I recently came for a candle and pizza making event and just as expected it was a 10/10 night. So much food that I was full from the starters and had to take my pizza home. As always the service was second to none. Can’t wait to see what events they put on next.

Food is very nice here, well worth a visit. Really nice pizza but the starter were on small size. It was a hot day when we went to eat, not sure they had the air conditioning on.

I have been eating occasionally at Amores for many years, but it was probably about 5 years since my last visit. I had clearly forgotten just HOW GOOD the food is. The menu is great to enable you to construct the dish how you like, choosing your main component (i.e. meat) cooked in a way you like and then selecting appropriate sides, such as pasta, fries, veg etc to suit your mood. The options are all so very tempting! Service is quite speedy, with very helpful and friendly staff making you feel well looked after. The Tiramisu is divine... it was all exceptional but I will be having dirty dreams about that dessert.... If you haven't tried it yet, please do. It's well priced and you will leave feeling so very very happy.

Went here for NYE. We arrived nearly an hour early and they led us straight to a table despite being packed. The food was delicious and plentiful and they were very accommodating when I asked to have two starters served as a main course and my dessert to take away. The decor is very attractive and the atmosphere was good, as was the service. Will come here again

A bit of a late review but; vegan meatballs and pizza were delicious. Other family members' meals were mint as well. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was great.

Food was delicious and very cute interior. Feels very romantic and classic. Staff were quite nice but seemed a little stressed. Make sure you save room for dessert because it's gorgeous!

Visited on a busy Saturday night, but were very impressed by the lovely staff and never felt we had to wait long for service. I feel this would be a great place for a big group, lots of choice and something for everyone with great atmosphere. Would consider the food a good Italian/British/European combination. The king prawns were immense. Sadly we've spent too much time eating in Italy and it has spoilt our taste buds, so this wasn't our favourite as we felt the British twist pulled away from the excellent Italian selection. If with a large group, I think this is definitely a front runner though.
