My partner and l went there to celebrate our anniversary yesterday evening. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the service was 5 star. Very friendly staff, special mention to the lady that was not in uniform, you brightened up the place. Now for the food..we ordered snacks, starter mains and dessert and l cannot rave enough about everything. Everything gets a 5 star(except for my mains 4star). Very flavourful and tasty. Our favourite parts were the appetisers and desserts but honestly everything came together so well, absolutely delicious.Kudos again to the very friendly and customer aware staff l will say my pina colada was a bit stronger that lm used to so l had to have loads of water coz lm a light weight.Otherwise we cant wait to go back. Update 20/10/25 -Anniversary time again so we went back to this amazing place. We were not disappointed. The food was absolutely amazing especially the 1kg steak that we had.A special mention to the beautiful young lady who served us.Jasmine thank you for amazing service last night. You made a special night extra special with your friendly service and beautiful smile. All round amazing service and food.Highly recommended

I ordered the flat iron steak medium rare, but it was unfortunately quite tough and hard to chew. The service was a bit slow, though the atmosphere was very nice.

We had an amazing lunch at Shu. Sunday set menu offered. 2 courses for 27 pounds or 3 courses for 32 pounds. Service was brilliant We will definitely be back

We chose Shu for my daughterβs wedding meal and booked a private dining room for 15 people. The food and service throughout the evening were very good, and I have no complaints in that regard. However, I was left very disappointed by the way the corkage policy was handled. I fully understand that restaurants charge for corkage when guests bring their own alcohol, but the lack of empathy and professionalism shown by the staff member in charge that evening β and later by the general manager I spoke with β was disheartening. My husband had bought a special bottle of champagne the year my daughter was born, and since he sadly passed away during COVID, I thought it would be a meaningful gesture to open it at her wedding meal. I was unaware that prior notice was required and asked what difference it would make β the staff member admitted βnot a lot,β yet still insisted on the full Β£60 corkage fee. I explained the sentimental value of the bottle and mentioned that we were spending significantly on the evening (our final bill, including drinks purchased from the restaurant, was Β£1,567). Despite this, I was met with a dismissive attitude and no flexibility. While I would have happily paid a reasonable corkage fee, such as Β£20, I felt the situation was handled in an unprofessional and insensitive manner. This lack of understanding on what was such a personal and important occasion left a sour note on what should have been a wonderful celebration. While the food was excellent, I expected more compassion and professionalism from a restaurant of this standard.. I would advise the owner to perhaps send the manager and acting manger on a refresher course in customer service and use their discretion in certain situations. Whilst I enjoyed the food I unfortunately wouldn't return or suggest this place

The food was really great, we had the monkfish, steak and lamb. As well as some delicious starters and desserts! The staff made sure we were well looked after even though there were a few really large groups! We thought we had booked into SHU but were seated in the downstairs area "Juls". It had a slightly different atmosphere with music with quite a loud bass. Not sure if the music was turned down or we got used to it but wasn't noticeable after a while!

Unfortunately the food doesn't anywhere near live up to the premium prices the restaurant charges. A large group of us went and out of a large variety of orders, no dish stood out and most of them were bland. Service is good, they've invested a lot into the building and interiors, but the creativity and delivery of the chef's is definitely lacking for a restaurant that prices itself amongst the elite of the city

Took a friend here for their birthday lunch. Had not been to Shu in well over a decade. Lovely decor and a nice welcome. The menu was varied and food delicious including beef tartare for starter, slow cooked lamb for main and pistachio and olive oil cake for dessert which was a revelation. At the end, asked for the bill and the waitress said she would get it but no rush to us to have to get up and leave now we were finished which was nice. Don't know why I hadn't been here in so long but I will definitely come back.

When we arrived at the restaurant we were one of the last reservations. So the restaurant was really full. We seated to a not very enjoyable table and I asked the manager if we could move to any better. The manager was very polite and he moved us immediately to a very nice table. It was very pleasant. The atmosphere was nice and the place is very well decorated. However it was bit noisy for the style of restaurant it is. The ladies next to us were bit drunk and they were noisyβ¦ The food was very delicious, the slow cooked beef was excellent. Sadly the portions were very small. That was something I didnβt really enjoyed. I know that places with gourmet food rarely have big portions, but I think that portions here were much smaller than the average. The wine was very nice and in a very good temperature, I really enjoyed it. The prices were reasonable. Concluding, I would say that the overall experience was good, the food was tasty but I would enjoyed it more if the portions were bit bigger.

Definitely my best meal ever in Belfast. All the courses are wonderfully delicious. The staff is great, kind and accessible, very professional. Only 2 things to improve, it is lightly too hot in the room and the waiting between the courses is a bit long but still ok. The prices are lower than same quality restaurants in France. 5 stars absolutely deserved.

Was very tasty, will definitely be back, the bed was among the best I've had (would have went a little heavier with the horseradish, but that's my preference), the pork fat was like butter and the squid was Unbelievable. Our only complaint is a bottle of water. We asked for a picture of water and were brought a out a bottle. It was already open and poured straight into our glasses without any further questions. We assumed that this was maybe just the done thing at Shu, but then the table next to ours was brought out a picture. We Explained the miscommunication and were then brought out tap water. The bottled water was warm and really didn't taste any different than the tap water, which was colder than room temperature at least. When the bill came we found that the unwanted, warm bottle was Β£4.50. If you're going to charge that much for a bottle of water, it should at least be chilled. Rather than complain we just took the cost out of what would have been left as a tip. We will be back eventually as the food was delicious, but will be very clear when asking for water that we want a jug of cold tap-water, not a Β£5 bottle that's been kept in the heat of the kitchen, and opened and poured into our glasses before we have a chance to explain the misunderstanding.
