   I ordered the turkey dinner with all the “trimmings” from the Christmas menu, priced at over £30. Unfortunately, the meal did not include items typically expected in a traditional Christmas dinner, such as ham, stuffing, cranberry, mash or sprouts. I found the overall taste bland, and the quality did not justify the price. The carrots were tough, and I was unable to eat the ‘mixed greens’. Additionally, the main course took a considerable amount of time to arrive, despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. The ladies’ restroom lacked toilet roll, and the restaurant felt uncomfortably cold. On a positive note, despite the food taking a long time to come out the service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Overall I was disappointed as you could find a higher-quality Christmas dinner elsewhere for a more reasonable price.

   The experience at Bar and Block was a true study in contrasts. The food, in a word, was excellent. Each dish, from the appetizer to the dessert, was a culinary delight. ​Unfortunately, the service failed to live up to the standard set by the food. It began with the most disappointing part of the evening, however, was a particularly rude exchange with our waiter. When my partner politely pointed out that we had been served the wrong wine, the waiter's response was not only dismissive but openly rude, which put a significant damper on the entire dining experience. While we ultimately received the correct wine, the unprofessionalism of the interaction was inexcusable. Another strange detail that stood out. We ordered 2 espresso martini, and it was served in a champagne flute. It was an odd choice that showed a lack of attention to a cocktail's proper presentation. ​In summary, if you’re looking for fantastic food and don't mind subpar service, this is the place for you. The food is easily five-star, but the service brings the overall rating down to a two or three-star experience at best

   Absolutely fantastic experience at this steakhouse. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the host, Kris, who was hands-down the most attentive and genuine host I’ve ever encountered. He recommended the roast beef dinner, and I’m so glad he did—it was nothing short of amazing. The beef was cooked to perfection, full of vibrant flavor, tender, and beautifully presented. Every bite was rich and satisfying. The whole atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, made even better by Kris’s brilliant hospitality. Highly recommend this place—can’t wait to go back!

   Very attentive waitress, delicious Christmas menu and the cocktails are amazing. Beef dripping popcorn as a complimentary appetizer is a brilliant idea. Would definitely recommend, and will be coming back for sure :)

   My chicken was undercooked. I sent back my meal, only for the chef to say that it was fine. Only a 50% discount for my meal, and we had to pay full price for everything else. The waitress was nice. That’s about as positive as it gets. I was sick the next day. I do NOT recommend!!

   Service was quite poor, firstly at the desk took ages to book us a table and was quite rude. When we arrived at our booking time table was not ready. Food came out in reasonable time but one of our guests had wrong dish therefore it had to be remade and others already were done by the time she got her dish out, and it was not that busy in the restaurant. Food was tasty and really nice though! It was convenient place just next to hotel so that’s a positive. As well great selection of different cocktails and drinks.

   Came here for a Saturday lunch using a 33% off meal deal. Had a 12oz Rump medium rare with chips and bearnaise sauce. Well cooked to order and delicious. Service was friendly. Place was dead when we came at 1.30pm but had filled up by the time we left. Pleasant and to the point. No complaints.

   Visited the Bar for the 3-4-1 cocktail special which they have everyday from 5-7pm. We didn't have a reservation but allowed us to sit by the bar for a few drinks. They were very busy and the bar was working real hard but effeciently. The cocktails are good and worth the price you pay on the special. We had long island ice teas and a margarita. They were decent and better than many places, even though the build of the cocktails weren't 100% correct.

   We haven't been here since pre covid and a few things have changed. Firstly we wanted to pay at reception for the meal deal but we had to show photograph Id to use cash very strange policy. The new menu has good variety except every single thing is a supplement bar the cheeseburger and the salad. Totally get everything has gone since our last visit but if your gonna have a saver menu don't put everything on a supplement. Our crispy beef starter was like chewing rubber and greasy wouldn't recommend it . On to the positives friendly staff main and breakfast was good and the decor is warm and cosy.

   Before attending a concert in Custom House Square we went to Bar and Block as it was close by. The restaurant is a modern open plan bar and restaurant which specialises in steak. The staff were professional, friendly and polite. We had BBQ sticky wings and mini mustard sausages for starters - both were delicious. I initially ordered battered cod and chips but was told there was no fish left so my husband and I had the sirloin steak brioche - mine had a little too much fat but my husband's was fantastic and they were both tasty. Good news for all cocktail lovers it's 2for 1 on them between 5 and 7 - I had two very nice french martinis. Spirits are all £2 each as well. I would definitely recommend and go back again
