A different experience today, not in a good way. I have been there before and the food has always been brilliant! Went today as a walk-in, and I get it, it's really busy before Christmas. But the food was really disappointing. The table we sat on had a special Christmas menu and their usual menus. I really liked the Christmas options, so I wanted to have that, but was told I can't, because they are pre-booking only. Fair enough, but the Christmas menu didn't make that very clear. So I went for a rump steak instead. Mushrooms cooked from frozen, chips so bland that I couldn't salvage them with an abysmal amount of salt and pepper, and the steak (I ordered medium) was somehow both charcoaled and raw at the same time. I even struggled to cut it with a steak knife, so chewing with just teeth was impossible! Steak has always been brilliant there before, so not sure what's happened. The best thing on the plate were the cherry tomatoes... I hope this experience is just temporary as it wasn't good.

⭐️⭐️ 2-Star Honest Review – The Refinery West Bridgford The service and atmosphere were genuinely exceptional — friendly, attentive, and a lovely setting to dine in. However, the food itself didn’t match the pricing. While it wasn’t bad, it simply wasn’t tasty enough to justify the higher price tag. The quality and flavour didn’t quite reflect the cost. Hoping to see improvements, as the environment and service definitely have potential.

We booked a table for lunch based on the 4 star reviews and were left very disappointed. I had a salad and my friend had the chicken with rice. The salad tasted off which is crazy..(overcooked cauliflower, stale coleslaw and quinoa) It was returned and replaced with poached eggs and avocado on toast. Again, the texture of the avocado was slimy which was odd. Needless to say, we won't be returning.

A hidden gem, especially for weekend breakfasts. Inside it was not very crowded - making it easy to talk. The breakfast here was delightful and packed with flavour that your tastebuds (I recommend the eggs florence or Benedict). Service was very efficient, with our complimentary drinks being served within 5 mins and our dishes within 12 mins. The interior is cosy overall, and modern but also vintage looking.

We visited The Refinery for the Wednesday tapas and wine tasting! Overall we had a really lovely time ☺️ Some feedback: -the n’duja ravioli was FAR too spicy. We could barely eat it and it ruined the wine it was with [also would have paired better with a red] - the lamb kebab was the highlight for us, absolutely fantastic - focaccia and butters were delish as well - paella needed a bit more flavour - dessert was lovely but it was a lot of sweetness with the prosecco Environment is lovely and it’s a fun and different thing to do. We liked the announcer who gave a bit of background on each wine. Service - everyone was nice but looked so so busy, we would have loved to have the menu explained to us in advance and how the wine tasting worked. We probably wouldn’t do it again with the set menu just because we didn’t love all the food but it was a really fun experience so worth a go!

Have always enjoyed visits to The Refinery. Food is good - in particular their Sunday lunch. The staff are friendly and attentive. It is also family friendly which is a big plus for us.

We had a Christmas lunch yesterday for 30 of us. The food and service was absolutely fantastic. The Manager was incredibly helpful and did everything he could to make our day great. Bish and all the staff were also perfect. We will be back next Christmas. Thank you to everyone.

Visited today at around 2pm. The food was okay, but not up to the standard of other locations in West Bridgeford, even with the Refinery's pretentious price-tag. The menu is also very misleading, in what seems like an attempt to rip you off. '£10 for 2 Courses" is displayed prominently, but we were informed by our waitress, Heather, only when receiving the bill that this is just for a set menu, one that is only given to you if you specifically ask for it. We explained that this wasn't on the menu, and Heather, after saying they get this problem a lot, asked another waiter to come over. I believe his name was Tristan though I didn't fully catch it so I have put a photo below. He was extremely rude, making snarky comments and contradicting Heather by saying this issue had never happened before. He made no attempt to apologise, instead stating "If I was dining I wouldn't have assumed this" and "There's no room for presumptions". These comments seemed rehearsed, like he was used to dealing with this misleading menu.

I went with my brother for a meal for the first time since lockdown. We both had a pizza. The pizza was superb. Fantastic food. Great polite and friendly staff. Great value for money as it was the Eat out to help out. The atmosphere was buzzing with people.
