Racial Bias & Grease Slicks: POC, Stay Away. My gad on today, where do I even begin? I’ve been here before and had a great experience, but it’s now glaringly obvious that was because this specific staff wasn't on shift. If you are a person of color, consider this a formal warning: your money is welcome here, but you are not. Having worked in hospitality and sales myself, I find the behavior here absolutely unacceptable. I watched the dark-haired girl treat a Black woman picking up her order with such haughty, "how dare you be here" energy that the poor woman was left sighing and shaking her head in disbelief. Meanwhile, white patrons were treated with actual decency. To the dark-haired girl: Your attempt to kick me out was pathetic. You didn’t offer an option or explain anything; you just looked at me—after I was already seated and had opened my food—and flatly said, "You can't eat in." No explanation, no "sorry." You clearly expected me to just get up and leave without asking questions, as if you expected me to just vanish. It wasn’t until I actually pushed for a "Why?" that you condescendingly mentioned the £5 fee. Then came the "damage control." The second they heard me on a phone call mentioning I'd be leaving a scathing review, which BTW they heard because they were eavesdropping on my conversation, that the blonde one suddenly seemed to grow a conscience. She tried to waive the £5 fee and even threw in a little wrapped candy as a "please don’t tell on us" bribe. A piece of sugar and a fiver to buy my silence? Please. I’m a person of my word, and my word is: Yikes. As for the food? If you’re currently experiencing a national shortage of body oil, look no further. My fish wasn’t just greasy; it was performing a synchronized swimming routine in a lake of oil. You could squeeze one "small" portion of fish and chips and fill a retail-sized bottle of moisturizing oil. The only things with flavor were the salt and the beans—I literally refused to waste the jaw energy required to chew the rest. I will NEVER go back here. If you are a person of color, I strongly advise you to take your business elsewhere. It costs £0.00 to be polite, but apparently, at this establishment, basic respect is a "White-only" privilege. 0/10. Keep the candy and the attitude; because me and mine will be staying away.

I can't fault the food, the only reason I give it a 4 star is price. I feel it just that but too expensive. I generally only visit on a Monday where u get a fantastic deal. £6 for small fish and chips, a sauce and a drink. Family dinner taken care of. Also I think a bit more of a selection of soft drinks as well.

We go here for lunch quite often now and it's always great. There's always a great amount of options of fish served fried or baked, let alone the other things on the menu. This week they had on shellfish specials so we had some fantastic crab and lobster.

One of the best fish and chips in the UK. The portions aren’t that large but the ingredients were clearly high quality. Fish was so fresh and tender. Chips were buttery, flavoursome, crispy. I like that fish and chips comes with tartare sauce and lemon wedge.

This place has got some really tasty fosh and chips. We tried the cod fosh and the monk fish. The monk wish was a win for sure. Oyster were amazing. And the scallops with the dip were really good. We were a little disappointed since they were out of king prawns but were all compensated with the amazing fish and oysters we had. Service is good. Must try place in Nottingham.

Fish and chips: It's undoubtedly the best fish and chips I have ever tasted. The fish is crispy on the outside with fresh and juicy flesh on the inside. It is mouthwatering to even think about it. I would never missed this restaurant during my visit in Nottingham. The portion of the chips are a lot. You may want to consider ordering the fish a la carte if you're not that into chips.

Fish was really tasty and very filling. Excellent menu with a range of items to choose from including drinks. The restaurants own 'Scale Ale' was a great along side the fish. It was not busy when we went with plenty of tables. Staff serving were very friendly and attentive, checking back that everything was OK after receiving the food. Good attention to detail with restaurant theme from lobster pot lights to octopus wine bucket. Just adds to the experience of eating there.
