Unfortunately this was so bad. The meat was fine but the vegetables were just boiled and plain, roasties were burnt and the gravy was weird and made everything taste worse. I have no idea how this has such good reviews. Also it was Β£60 for 2 adult meals, one child and 1 Coke zero. Sad times.

Wow! This Carvery was amazing! Even though we are Liverpool Fans, the Chef gave us a huge Welcome and a generous amount of meat (I had the Beef and Pork). We moved onto the Vegetables and honestly, I can't think of a single Veg that wasn't present. All of them looked fresh (2pm ish) and replenished regularly as well as being crunchy and piping hot. The table staff were welcoming too - it was worth the drive and, we'll be back. I have a modest appetite so, don't let the size and selection of my plate put you off - there were Yorkshire's, my bro had 2, and potatoes - you can have as much as you want!

We came from Italy and have noticed this place from home. We waited five days and finally got the chance to go. We bring home one of the best memories we could ever have. We also had an American friend who never tried British food and he adored it. The waiter was incredible and the chef absolutely lovely. The food was amazing, best meat pie I have ever had. If we will have the chance we will definitely come back as we felt at home. Thank You so much for the wonderful experience

On our second attempt, several months apart we managed to book a table. Four of us arrived at the appointed time and were duely shown to our designated table. The venue was busy for Sunday 12:30 pm slots but everything proceeded smoothly. The menu was explained and one of us chose to go veggie while others went the carnivorous route. We were served by a portly, easy going and chatty gentleman who managed to extract our life stories without any real effort while placing delicately cut portions of various meats on our plates. Needless to say along with undoubted skills with the knife he seemed well versed in the art of conversation. We were charmed and offered no resistance. As we moved along others took our places and were put under his spell similarly. The food was good and service smooth despite the dining area being full. Thereβs a car park available but on busy Sundays parking can be a challenge. Our bill was around Β£26 per head without alcohol - very reasonable for the quality of the food offred. Weβd travelled from Nottingham and I believe it was a worthwhile trip. Especially so if combined with a country walk in the area. Would I return? Yes I think itβs well worth the extra mileage out of town particularly on a lovely summers day.

Fabulous experience. As a coeliac Iβm normally excluded from half the menu but at the Rancliffe Arms everything was available in gluten free version which was amazing. Thank you! The meat was perfect and a good array of vegetables. They even had my favourite pud in GF. The service was quietly efficient and Iβll definitely be back.

Fantastic pub/restaurant. We went for the Sunday carvery although it was very busy (booking ahead is essential) it was not cramped at all. I've never had such a polite and cheerful waitress serving us too. Place had music which although we were directly under the speaker was not at all loud to impede conversation. There was a choice of four different meats (turkey, pork loin, gammon ham and beef) and they had been roasted to perfection. There was an amazing choice of veg to along with the meal. Also the best bit was that they allowed us to go up for a second serving! Truly excellent experience.

Lovely old pub, but being old was probably hard to heat as not very warm in there. After meal we sat near the open fire which hadn't been tended to, wanted to stay longer but wanted to go home to get warm. Staff were great but a bit understaffed as they did their best but could have done with some help. Menu said Festive menu but nothing on for the Xmas season . The food we did have was excellent. We had the duck for starter and i had salmon and my friend had meat pie for mains.

Went today at 17.50 for a carvery, and you get two slices of meat. Regulars in front of us got at least double meat and small plates so you have to pile it high. Wouldn't be in a rush to go back - the waiters were friendly.

Excellent food and wonderful service. Arrived a few minutes after the carvery ended but the chef came out and served us anyway. All the staff were lovely, would definitely recommend
