Lovely little restaurant just out of the heart of the City so it's centrally located but not in a busy area. Lovely ambience, cosy, comfortable. Good staff, friendly, helpful, great service. Small but varied menu has something for everyone. The simple 2 course or 3 course menu option is excellent value for money. The food is excellent - portion sizes are just right to be able to enjoy all the courses and some nice touches like an accompanying sherry are well thought out. After 5 years in the Lichfield/Tamworth area it's the best restaurant we've found.

Our 3rd visit in recent months & the same problem existed, the soup was seasoned too much, either too much black pepper or too heavily spiced. With any vegetable soup you need to be able to flavour the actual main ingredient the veg its self. Come on Bistro you can do better than this ?! The staff were friendly & efficient with the restaurant relatively quiet. We will visit again & try the soup ; hopefully with lessons learnt. Tim Warner.

We haven't been here for a number of years for no specific reason really but we were in Lichfield and decided to have a meal lunchtime. We hadn't booked but were able to get a table for two, it was busy ( they do a great vfm lunch menu which has always been very popular!) We sat upstairs on a quieter side of the busy restaurant although two more parties of 4 joined within half an hour. The noise levels were actually fine. I had the spicy butternut squash soup with GF bread which had a great spicy kick and was very flavoursome and my husband had the breaded brie with apricot chutney which looked divine and apparently tasted wonderful. I had the pork belly on mash with vegetables and he opted for the chicken leg which he said was nice but not very big ( the clue should have been in the fact it was a leg!) I had a few longing looks from him especially as my pork belly was a great size (I did end up letting him sample it) We had dessert,he had the sticky toffee pudding and ice-cream which more than made up for the chicken leg in size and I had the GF apple & raspberry crumble which was beautiful and not too sweet. We had a tonic water and coke and there was a jug of water on the table. Food was excellent as was the service and quality and taste of the food. The bill was £52 which was excellent vfm. I will not leave it as long as definitely recommend.

Amazing tasting food with amazing prices! Brie to start which was a good size wedge, chicken pate was very tasty and the pork belly was the best I’d had in a while with crispy crackling! Only negatives the portion of veg is way too small and the menu says £1 supplement for pork and they charged us £2, obviously not a huge difference but when we pointed out they had it listed wrong they didn’t even offer to rectify.

Had a lovely time here. Helpful staff. Romantic atmosphere and superb food. We were seated upstairs and found it quiet enough to talk. The great menu made it hard to choose. I ended up with the lamb and my guest with salmon. Both were excellent.

This is a little Gem! Friendly service, excellent cooked to order food, and great value for money. Well worth a visit. I think the empty plate says a lot really :-)

It was a quaint locale, and the interior has character. However, our table was very unsteady. It rocked so much, we couldn't eat on it unless we shoved our napkins beneath one edge. As for the food, I would describe it as "confused." They advertise as French inspired, but nothing on the menu felt remotely French derivative. My starter of risotto tasted ok, but calling it a risotto when it wasn't creamy and served molded into a solid, pilaf-esque shape, was odd. My main of sea bass was cooked well, but the dish was underwhelming. None of my partners dishes seemed to be made with French methods, either, as he's actually had French training himself. We were left unsatisfied, mostly because we just didn't get the experience that was advertised.
