We popped in here over lunchtime for a lovely meal. It was mid week and quite busy. The menu was clear and there was lots of choice. Staff were super friendly. The steak and ale pie was huge! Loads of chips, peas and gravy too. The veggie burger was also good. The toilets were clean, with plenty of good quality soap. There were also a few parking spaces outside despite being busy. Parking tip - if you are coming from the Plymouth or Tavistock direction, don't be tempted to come off the roundabout at the car park by the shops as there is often a queue and parking fees. Head towards Princetown and take the first exit on the right after the roundabout. this takes you to the pub car park.

Visited with my cousin and her husband. Lovely place great food, generous portions, and lovely beer. 16.07.25, the steak pie is fab so good we don't even ask for a menu. Good to see Dartmoor brewery AF is on the drinks menu.

Had a lunch date here and it was a nice menu with traditional ploughman's lunch that was huge. Roast dinners are popular here. Nice ales and great service the staff are friendly and helpful. Reasonable prices for the quality of food served. Parking can be limited on busy weekend lunchtimes.

Fantastic gem hidden away from the regular touristy places. A beautiful old building that, like most places in Cornwall, dates back years and beaming with history but despite that, this place is wheelchair accessible and also dog friendly. A tasty menu offering an assortment of home cooked delights. We opted for ham +eggs +chips and aptly named 'steak and jail pie'. All meals were good sizes which unfortunately meant there was no room to sample desserts. Very clearly a pub wrapped around the local community but still very welcoming to others that go in. All of the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere backed that up. A great place with great food.

Really good food. The rolls are baked on site, and still warm when they arrived at the table! The Ploughman’s and the Coronation Chicken were amazing!

Had the Dartmoor topside of beef roast, good portions for the price. The food was warm, not hot when served, the vegetables not even that. The roast beef itself was really tender and tasty, but the rest of the food needed seasoning and it would have been good to have a bit more of gravy.

After a walk over the moors from Princetown to Burrator reservoir, we stopped off for a pint and bite to eat at The Rock Inn. Inside was very busy so we grabbed a table outside in the fresh air and sunshine. Ordered a couple of pints of Jail Ale, Dartmoor Brewery's top beer (IMHO) and some soft drinks for our ladies. Sunday Roasts looked fantastic but we decided to share a Ploughman's lunch, a chicken wrap and a plate of chips. Excellent food served piping hot. This pub is child and dog friendly.

I loved the 3 cheese tart with salad and new potatoes. My friends had the fish & chips and the curry and were really pleased with their meals as well. Friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. A great eat and meet place for everyone. We arrived at 4pm and a full menu was still a available. Do visit.

Busy Sunday and we still found outside seating and got served very quickly. The roast was tasty with very generous servings of veg, meat, roasties, Yorkshire pud and gravy. It does cost a bit more than other places but fair considering the quality of the food. Great stop off on the way home after a long stroll on the moors too.
