Brilliant carvery as always. Special shout out to Jo who took on the challenge of clearing up one of the booths which looked like a full scale food fight had taken place. Shocking how people can leave such an appalling mess and expect the ‘staff’ to clear up. Full marks to Jo who crawled in without PPE, mask, gloves or hazmat suit and sorted the food, wrapping paper, dummy etc. Jo deserves a medal / employee of the month / an all expenses trip to the Maldives? Exceptional employee!

I recently visited Tony’s Carvery, and I have to say, the experience was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The standout highlight for me was their succulent gammon — hands down one of the best I’ve ever tasted. The gammon was perfectly cooked: tender, juicy, and packed with flavour, with just the right balance of savoury and sweet. It carved beautifully and melted in the mouth. You can really tell it’s made with care and quality ingredients. Pair it with their roast potatoes, veggies, and gravy, and you’ve got the perfect plate. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere felt warm and relaxed — exactly what you want from a proper carvery. Portions were generous, prices were fair, and everything was served piping hot. If you’re a roast lover, or especially a gammon fan, Tony’s Carvery is definitely worth a visit. I’ll be going back again soon! Thank you!!!!

On arrival at the Toby Roborough, it was clean and salt put down to allow us safe passage into the pub. Very clean and a warm welcome from a lovely waitress. We were sat on table 13 and asked if we required drinks, food. We were slightly earlier than planned but the carvery was all ready for meals to be served. The gent carving the meat(unsure of his name Bob?) was really helpful and attentive. The food ,vegetables, gravy etc looked amazing. The same lady who welcomed us,served our drinks and ensured our experience at the Toby was great. The food looked and tasted amazing. At the end of our meal I paid with a Blue light discount, and vouchers. I was concerned that it would cause issues but I was wrong. The lady who served us was called away and a lovely duty manageress stepped in to help. Everything was all dealt with by the duty manageress who was so lovely and sorted out all the vouchers etc.I did pass on my thanks to both ladies and carvery server as they made our meal a great experience.

Great service, great Food our waitress Jess was really helpful making sure we had everything we needed. My little girl was overwhelmed and very upset Jess noticed this and brought over some drawing bits and asked if she could help in anyway. Which was really thoughtful and kind, she is a real asset to the Toby team.

The food as always was excellent , and such a lovely chef so polite and always has a smile on her face for every customer . But the waiting time for someone to come to the desk to see to you was absolutely so long that we could have cooked a full roast ourselves , and to get a drink at the bar and pay for our meal was equally as bad . But in saying that it wasn't no fault of the staff , the bar girl would serve one person then say excuse me then go and clear away and clean a table , then come back and serve the next customers , in the mean time the young lady at the desk was also no where to be seen , as you can imagine there was a long queue and people were get annoyed, again no fault of the young lady who was also clearing and cleaning table's and relaying them . I can never understand why you put your staff under so much pressure they work there socks off as it is ..... ( apart from saving a bit of money on a wage ) the service needs some attention, we will not be returning in a hurry I can assure you , we would rather go elsewhere and pay extra if need be and get a decent and proper service. No it was not a peak time that we went , It was quite quiet when we got there at 1.40 , and if you are going to put a deal on of 50 per cent off , it would make sense to get in extra staff for the customer's taking up this great offer .

Good food, but the service left a lot to be desired. We were there for well over an hour, and our server only came to check on us once. Tried to order pudding and after speaking to the server, he just vanished for the rest of the evening. After waiting 30 minutes we decided to leave and get something elsewhere as the wait was unacceptable. The food was nice so couldn't fault that. Just a need to up the attentiveness of the servers

We went to the Toby for 'Breakfast with Santa' and what a wonderful experience it was! Great breakfast, friendly approachable team working really hard, who completely engaged with the occasion, inviting the children up when it was their turn to see Santa. Santa himself was fantastic - he gave each child so much time, was lots of fun, kind and ensured they created a great memory. All in all, a fantastic experience for which we were grateful (and we were so full that we didn't need any more to eat until the evening!).

We arrived early as we caught the bus! We could see that there had been an extremely busy morning and things were running late, plus we were informed that there was a shortage of staff. We had a drink at the bar and watched as all the staff hurried , as a team, to make the place clean and presentable. Five minutes before our scheduled booking time we were shown to our table. The carvery was according to my wife " The best I've ever had in a restaurant" and I must say that I agree with her.

Dropped into this Toby for a meal today. Very busy but the young lad at the front desk was helpful and found us a table quickly. The menu was relatively limited but being quite hungry we quickly settled on our choices. One of our party ordered a meal with garlic bread. Within 10 mins the garlic bread was bought to the table and we were told our food was ready for collection from the 'carvery deck'. The collection from the carvery deck took a fair few minutes as they'd run out of veggies, by the time we returned the garlic bread was cold. The food itself, was not good, roasters were under cooked, cauliflower cheese was also under cooked and covered in a thin tasteless cheese sauce. Pies were salty, Peas were fine and carrots too. Yorkshire puds were flat & rubbery. Overall not a good meal. Definitely not worth the money. ***** Quick update the Toby has acknowledged my review and offered to find a resolution to our experience, which is incredibly decent of them. And I should like to thank them for this opportunity to do so.
