It’s time for someone to speak openly about the experience at Millfield Swimming Pool. While the facility has a strong history and has produced some excellent swimming talent in the UK, being a young swimmer training there is not as easy or inclusive as people may think. During the years my daughter trained at this pool, she was restricted at times — even “sectioned off” — and occasionally not allowed to train at certain hours. These kinds of limitations can feel discriminatory and certainly do not give every young swimmer a fair chance to develop. Talent should be nurtured, not selectively filtered. The pool itself is a valuable resource for the area, and the potential of young people here is enormous. But the management’s approach needs to evolve. With a more open and inclusive mindset, the facility could easily support not just five top swimmers, but twenty or more. The community deserves that level of opportunity. From my long-term observations, the environment can come across as elitist and not particularly community-oriented. My hope is that, moving forward, those who manage this facility will reflect on how they can better serve all young athletes in the area — creating a place where every swimmer has the chance to grow, thrive, and feel valued.
Best school sports setup in the UK easily…ridiculous range of facilities! If you get a chance to use the pool do it!

Fantastic, large 50m swimming pool. Good viewing gallery, but take a cushion. No backs to seats either. Plenty of free parking. No cafe, but a few vending machines
The pool is great to swim in, the parking is free and generally enough spaces except when there is a school event on the same day as a gala! Could do with a proper cafe serving proper food.
Well what can't you say positive about millfield pool it's beautiful, fantastic pool for our young athletes and has such a professional vibe about it really inspiring
