   Only went in for the toilet and after I’d done my business the lady behind the bar decided to announce I’d been to the toilet (not even in a funny way unfortunately) to get attention from the lads at the bar I assume. Fair play though, she must’ve gone to university to figure out what people use the toilets for. What a melt.

   The manager is firm but fair, she loves her customers equally and loves to create a welcoming environment for new and old customers, the best landlady the market tavern had ever had and ever will have. Anybody who disagrees has clearly never been ❤️

   This place has become my home away from home whilst I am in the area from London. It encapsulates everything you want from a local boozer with great beer, great service and a decent atmosphere no matter what the time or the day. We need more pubs to learn from this example and the business will boom again Well done guys, keep up the hard work it is working for the benefit of all who visit

   Visited yesterday just for a quick one, it's unusual for me not to be driving so thought we'd make the most of it. 11:30ish (am) but quite busy, proper old school boozer. Served quickly and found a quiet spot to sit and take in our surroundings. There's definitely a core of hardened regulars, laughing joking and sharing. One lady left her purse in the disabled toilets and one of the regulars who want in as she came out called her back to get it. Not bad prices on the drinks and people were taking their own food in (as I've seen in some of the old school boozers I regularly frequent.) Somewhere I'd not hesitate to visit again if in the area and not driving but not somewhere I'd make a special effort to visit.
