Traditional local pub, hosting lots of entertainment from singers to darts nights with fantastic real ale I will not rate food as fantastically it sells homemade cobs and other bar snacks, no lasagne and pies here folks. The Royal Oak concentrates on being a local community beer pup
The Royal Oak is a traditional Victorian street corner pub. Much extended and improved over the years, including a large partly covered beer garden. There is an excellent range of beers, lager and cider, including 3 hand-pulled cask conditions, real ales, which were in excellent condition when we visited. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the landlord took the trouble to tell us about the history of this great pub. If you love good beer, then this pub is highly recommended.

Dropped by last Friday with a friend. Previous visit was in the 80's during college days! Was greeted to a friendly welcome & ended up staying longer than planned. A great selection of beers, all served at the right temperature & in the correct glasses! Limited space inside but there was plenty of covered space outside. Overall, still felt cosy and had a great vibe. Will be visiting again. Definitely recommended.
Great and friendly pub with some some tables deal if you want to catch-up with friends while drinking a nice draught beer.
Nice place for an after-work drink! The pork scratchings are particularly good!
The mulled cider was a treat when we popped in Sunday when there was a Christmas market in full swing with an outside pulled pork & hot dog van, live music and Christmas cakes. Busy and friendly atmosphere. Hats off to the management.
I always come down on a Tuesday night for the open mike night. I enjoy the live music and the real ale.
