I was placed here due to not being able to cope in my own flat, I feel I get the right care and support to help me live as good a life as I can. I still have bad days, but the staff always do what they can to help me brighten up.

Since moving into The Solace Community, all I have received is kindness and compassion. I haven't been the easiest person to deal with and really admire the staff and the time and effort they put into helping people with issues.

8 Year Celebration what a fantastic day was had by the residents and staff alike, as we celebrated 8 years of helping the more vulnerable in society. Showing that even at their lowest, we are there to help and support the needy. I have been working for the solace community now for close on 6 years, starting as part time night hostel worker. I know work full time on days and spend my days helping to support the many vulnerable adults that come through and use our services. Here everyday is different and can be challenging with some of our more chaotic clients, but still something I enjoy to get up and face the challenges daily.

Having known Thomas Harvey-Beswick for over 20 years, I have seen the drive and dedication he has in supporting homeless people, his passion is infectious. Having been on the outside of the service, along with my husband we have been involved in capturing events through voluntarily filming and photographing celebratory occasions. I was delighted when Thomas asked me to join the Solace Community as a Director in February this year. Getting to know the staff and residents has been an incredibly positive experience. The passion the staff have in helping the residents feel safe and secure is wonderful. I look forward to continuing to be part of The Solace Community.

I’m currently living at The Solace Community, I have a very bad ulcer on my leg which is about 20cm. It has gotten really bad. This has stopped me from walking and doing normal chores. I have been to hospital about 7 times and only ever been given antibiotics. My GP has not even seen my leg at all. I feel neglected by them. I feel this should have been sorted a long time ago, it should never have gotten this bad. If it wasn’t for my support worker at The Solace Community helping to get it sorted, and then the help from the walking centre, I would have lost my leg 100%. I am very grateful to my support worker and the walk in centre. The help they have given me has changed my life, I can walk a little better, but still not very good and am in pain with it daily. I have to have my leg dressed every other day. The Staff always take me as they know I could not get there myself.

The solace team are dedicated to providing a safe secure place to stay ,whilst providing support with housing, beating addiction and sign posting to outside agencies. They are improving there services on a daily basis to meet the needs of the individual.

Having previously lived within the area I have found The Solace community staff to be a great help with any issues or problems within the area. A simple phone call to them and they come out and sort it. Even when it is not their residents. A lot of the time it isn't there people. They were so helpful and very accommodating.

Well it started as a night out over 3 years ago Mrs F. went to seeThomas Harvey Beswick talk about his life and why he set up Solace Community for the homeless, before you know it she’s at The Solace a couple of days a week as a volunteer, then it’s 3 days and a year ago she was made a permanent member of staff. Enthusiasm for her role is catching, the diversity, the friendships and how they care for each other ( that’s the residents). Everyday there is laughter some days there are tears. It’s not always easy but the residents make it worthwhile even if they do occasionally moan about the food but there are over 70 of them male and female young and not so young but you know what they say β€˜You can’t please all the people all of time’ but I know the staff at Solace try!

Came here for job interview 3 years ago. Building looks a mess inside & out Was made to sit in a dirty room by front door to wait Not very safe for visitiors. Bunch of "staff" just sat in 1 room gossiping.

Shut it down. I spoke to a manager there about the problems and she lied about there being no properties on Larchers Lane. Despicable! I have nothing against people with addiction or mental health issues but when it causes distress to the residents then they need to be shut down and moved out of town. They even tried telling me that they do "Nighly potrols" which is another bare faced lie, and I told them, because I sat outside from midnight to 04:00 for five nights and saw no-one apart from a girl smoking a crack pipe and onother girl telling me she used to be a prostitute and asking me if she could sleep in my flat.
