   Day trip to Plymouth with family and our 4 legged friend. Found this little gem. Just stopped for a drink but ended up staying most of the afternoon. Initially sat outside as there were patio heaters which kept us warm. Then moved inside. Received a very warm welcome and dog friendly was a bonus. Stopped for Sunday dinner.....absolutely brilliant and worth every penny. Tv was on but still able to chat. Highly recommend this place

   Myself and my family couldn’t recommend this pub more. We spent the day celebrating my brother passing out of the Royal Navy and having a meal here was the perfect end to our day. All the staff were lovely, especially our server Jack who went above and beyond. The food couldn’t have been better and the location is perfect. 10/10 experience, we’d definitely come back again!

   Just came down for work and had a lovely time! The bar staff were super friendly and engaging. Jack was super helpful looking for a place to eat late at night. Atmosphere was awesome with Jack on the tunes. Overall had a cracking experience and highly recommend to anyone new or returning to Plymouth.

   I recently visited The Ship on Plymouth’s Barbican and was charmed by the mix of historic ambience and modern hospitality. Set right on the harbour’s edge, its outdoor terrace beneath giant parasols offers one of the best vantage points in town — watching boats glide by while enjoying a drink is unbeatable.  We were greeted warmly on arrival and seated promptly. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and took genuine care to accommodate dietary preferences — which I appreciated.  The interior upstairs is stylish yet comfortable, making it ideal both for casual lunches and slightly more formal dinners.  For food, I tried their fish and chips — perfectly cooked, crisp batter, succulent fish, and a generous portion of chips. Other friends sampled vegetarian and vegan options and were pleased with the quality and variety.  On the drinks side, their beer selection is solid, and they also serve good wines and barista coffee.  The view alone makes this place worth a visit, but combine that with the excellent service, solid food, and relaxed atmosphere, and The Ship becomes a must-stop in Plymouth. One minor tip: it can get busy during peak times, so booking ahead is wise. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable experience — I look forward to returning.

   Turned up on a quiet Tuesday and was happily welcomed and happy to hear they were serving food. All be it quiet the food came prompt and fresh from the burger to the chicken wings all was well served and presented. The portion sizes were also a welcomed bonus and would recommend to eat here or even just a drink as it is a full functioning pub.

   We had a really nice few hours here with friends recently. We got a table outside great in the sun & lively place to sit and watch all going on around. Staff were very pleasant & efficient. Good is good pub grub nothing to fancy would defo return.

   Great fish and chips!! We are Canadians with roots in England and just loved our visit to "The Ship" while finding our roots last month. It was early nightfall and all the boats and watercraft were all lit up and do serene. The ambience and view from the restaurant one floor up was flawless. Food was good... thoroughly enjoyed a variety of local ciders.. thoroughly recommend.

   This bar and restaurant is located in a great location on the historic Barbican over looking the harbour. The menu and beers offered from this St Austell Brewery owned Bar is excellent and you can enjoy dining drinking or both in the friendly atmosphere from the very helpful and friendly staff. Recently they have made the outside seating area even more attractive with all large bins enclosed that doesn't now spoil the wonderful views and many plant boxes arranged along the seated canopy areas. I've lived on the Barbican for over 30 years and the Ship bar and restaurant is one of the best places to visit for any occasion with friends or family within a great location...
