Every year since 1988 when I've been to my timeshare at St Mellion in August I always make a point of visiting the Union Inn for a pint or two. I have always found the premises welcoming despite sometimes being busy being positioned under the famous old bridge as she is the staff always have time to chat. If you are into the plastic and chrome atmosphere of the modern 'chain' pubs then don't go in. If you want to be whisked back the the days of when pubs were pubs and the centre of the community then do go in and be educated as to how a real pub should be. I wrote this post, something I don't normally do. because of the vile post put in by someone who obviously has a down on superb old fashioned pubs such as the Union Inn. There is NO smell of urine and the toilets are acceptable to the pubs character. This post is the result of years of visiting her from the other side of the country and unbiased as I suspect that one is that was previously posted. A big 'well done' and thankyou to the landlord and his staff from an 'Essex Boy'!...

The Urine Pub!!! Moody bartender, dirty glasses.. the toilets are disgusting!! Stink of urine and are filthy! The smell will burn your eyes, throat & curl your hair!! Thank god children aren’t allowed and they don’t serve food!! Pub looks great from the outside but inside is vile!!!

Really lovely pub, music playing but not over powering, lots of tables inside aswell as benches with parasoles outside. Very lively in warmer weather. Live music during the week and on some Saturdays. Do not serve food but do sell bar snacks Dogs are allowed in the bar

Exactly how I remember old fashioned pubs when I went with my dad in the 90s. Great drink selection with many drinks you don't usually see in pubs like Murphy's, budvar and rhubarb cider Great atmosphere and staff seem nice Bear in mind, children aren't allowed in the bar Well worth the £5 boat trip from Plymouth

Great friendly pub, by day or night. The only pub in Saltash on the waterside! Lots of good live music on the evenings too.

A very traditional pub, nice range of beers and drinks, food can be available. Located close to the water front of Saltash, boats moored up and of sea birds and swan's around. Parking available but limited toilet facilities available.

Lovely old school pub with a really good selection of real ale and cider, nice relaxed atmosphere in side , great views over the river

Saw this place from the other side of the river. How can you miss the Flag. Great little place, could use a little injection of money here and there but I wouldn't want to spoil what they have. Very quirky just how I like them and by the water too. Friendly staff and friendly after work locals at the bar. Outside seating facing the river.. what more coukd you ask foe.. Just wish I could have been there for a live music night.
