    We had the pleasure of visiting the Cornish Ancestor with family recently. A great venue, with a really good selection of beers, friendly locals and great staff. We had a wonderful evening. Unfortunately, upon our return to Kent we realised my son had misplaced his wallet. Luckily for us, one of the venues we thought it might have been left at was the Cornish Ancestor, Julia couldn’t have been more helpful in returning my son’s property to him and went out and of her way to ensure that it was returned to us safe and sound. We cannot recommend the Cornish Ancestor highly enough and cannot wait to return.

    Absolutly brilliant pub. Owner a great guy. Staff great. People that go in there very friendly. Been going in whenever im down (quite often) since it opened. Allways chat to owner etc. The beer is 1st class as well

    The Cornish Ancestor is warm and welcoming without trying too hard, and the staff are friendly in a relaxed. There’s a strong selection of local beers and ciders on tap, which made choosing a bit of a task—but a good one. For anyone not into pints, the wine list is solid, with decent bottles that go beyond the usual pub fare. The antiquarian photos give the space real character and sparked some unexpected conversations about family history that made the afternoon more memorable. It’s a pub with roots and a sense of place, which makes it easy to settle in. We’ll definitely be back—this one’s worth revisiting.

    Been threatening to pop in since it opened about 2 years ago, wish we had!! Friendly welcome, great beers and very reasonable prices. Wonderful atmosphere, whether quietly reading a book or singing along when they have one of their Ancestor Sessions on! Regularly change their beers so always something different and even more reason to return! Cracking place, highly recommend a visit.
