I like Top Valley Tesco because it’s so big and always quite well kept and reasonably well stocked. There are the odd things you can’t get (an example for me is Perfect Ted drinks) which is a shame considering the size of the store. We drove from Colwick to Top Valley today for the Christmas market and was rather disappointed. It wasn’t at all like what I’ve seen promoted online by members of the public. Someone offered me a tea and I was shocked that all I got was a shot glass worth considering tea is 90% hot water anyway. The lady on the Teapigs stand was very lovely though, and clearly doing her job well. The lady on the Lindt stall was busy engaging and serving too. Not many of the staff were proactive like these ladies. It’s clear that you don’t need more than 2 staff per stall, but the ladies on Pepsi & Crisps were just using as an excuse to have a chat, and not really acknowledging anyone to try their samples. One made eye contact with me and just continued talking to her coworker, didn’t seem like they wanted anyone to go over. Overall, considering the small things you got e.g. one small celebration, one small Lindt bear/reindeer, 1 small minced pie - it felt more like brand promotion and tasters than an actual Christmas market. The hot chocolate stand was just outright non functional and unoccupied. Members of the public on social media depict something very different, for one, there was no evidence of goodie bags anywhere here at Top Valley.

Dear Tesco Management, I am writing to formally raise a complaint about an incident that occurred recently at one of your stores, where I went shopping with my sister and my niece. Among the items we purchased was a bottle of Lambrini, which understandably required age verification. When the authorization was needed, a member of staff approached us in a brusque and disrespectful manner, demanding identification. While we fully understand and respect Tesco’s policy on ID verification, the way in which she addressed us was unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. We explained our ages (all over 18) and offered to show digital proof of identification, but she refused in an aggressive manner and removed the bottle without further explanation. During the situation, another staff member—who has known us for a long time—kindly intervened and confirmed that we are regular customers and clearly of legal age. Despite this, the initial employee maintained her stance, so we decided to leave the store and return later with our physical IDs. Upon our return, we found the same employee speaking with other colleagues and pointing towards us. Shortly afterward, a supervisor and another employee approached us and, without allowing us to explain, told us that we would not be allowed to purchase the alcohol. After we presented our IDs, the supervisor informed us that the employee had claimed we had treated her badly and used offensive language, which is entirely false. This situation was deeply upsetting and humiliating. We later spoke with the manager on duty, named Sherell, who apologized for the employee’s behavior and assured us that she would address the matter with the staff involved. However, she did not provide us with the employee’s name, which prevented us from filing a direct report. For context, my family and I are Black, and the member of staff involved appeared to be of Eastern European origin. I mention this because the way we were treated, combined with the false accusations made against us, raises concerns that racial bias may have influenced her behavior. I wish to express my concern regarding the way we were treated and the apparent lack of professionalism in handling the situation. I kindly request that this incident be investigated thoroughly and that appropriate measures be taken to ensure that no other customers experience similar treatment.

Took friend in to move his mobile phone contract from O2 to Tesco Mobile. Josh was very helpful and patient. A perfect ambassador for the Tesco brand. He went above and beyond for customer service. Also the £33 per month O2 contract was replaced with an £8.50 Tesco contract with the same content (free calls/SMS and 12Gb/month data) but MUCH better tech support. Thanks, Josh!

This Tesco location in Nottingham displayed behavior that no customer should ever experience. My husband had just finished evangelistic meetings in Sheffield and became quite ill during our short stopover before heading to Wales. I went to this store to purchase cold and pain relief medication along with some food. At checkout, an alarm went off due to the limit on pain relievers, something I wasn’t familiar with as a visitor from the U.S. The security officer and attendant explained, and I completed the transaction without issue. What happened next was far more troubling. While arranging transportation, I accidentally left my husband’s bank card in the machine. Within two minutes, I returned to the front desk to retrieve it. Despite clearly describing the card, showing my ID with the same last name, and explaining the situation, I was rudely and dismissively refused by the manager/supervisor. They stated that because the card had my husband’s name on it, they would not return it, even though it had just been left moments earlier. The next morning, when my sick husband and I returned, the staff again made things difficult, this time falsely claiming there was no name on the card. When it was finally returned, we discovered the section with his name and details had been deliberately torn off, making it impossible to verify ownership. This was not a misunderstanding. It was blatant misconduct and what strongly felt like racial discrimination. What should have been a simple, compassionate interaction during a vulnerable moment was instead met with hostility, dishonesty, and damage to personal property. This was not just poor service; it was discrimination. For a globally recognized brand like Tesco, this behavior is unacceptable. I truly hope management takes this incident seriously. No customer should ever be treated this way because of the color of their skin.

Racist staff and ill mannered store manager i went in there to get pain killers for me and my 16 Yr old as he just had his braces tightened and the staff surrounded me like I was a drug dealer because I didn't understand why I could buy both when I asked for there names they refused one member called me a liar stating I didn't ask for a manager just a colleague and made out I was being aggressive because I'm a black women when I then spoke to the manager Laura she just kicked me out stating this is her shop after I was trying to get there names to make a complaint I then asked the man Adam to file my complaint he said he will be it won't go nowhere .... I understand druggies buy all the pain killers but not everyone buying paracetamol is on drugs and even if they where that doesn't give these workers he excuse to treat them how I was treated today.. I get you have to do you shopping but just becareful because if you have a problem with one of them they all gang up on you

Been wanting to try the cafe for a while, food was lovely and had a delicious pot of tea. The perfect finish after a shop, talk of that, they normally have everything you want but the friendly staff will always help if you can't spot it. Security can be mean and won't let us park our scooters inside and that's why I prefer bullwell although he is a nice guy and is only doing his job. Thank you guys

I have so many moans about this Tesco Extra which has gone downhill in the past few years: My main complaint is the that the quality and freshness of the produce such as vegetables in this store is usually extremely poor. On a daily basis, it's a struggle to try and find items that do not look far past their best. I can go in Hucknall Tesco and find fruit and veg that looks fresh and green and not brown and withered but 3 miles away and there is clearly some sort of storage problem with the Top Valley Tesco, with bags of salad leaves and other greens like spinach, often looking wet, soggy. and old despite being in date. Items in the reduced section are sometimes mouldy and look inedible - such a shame that so much food is wasted by letting it get to this stage. Don't go to this store with any hopes of buying cosmetics after about 3 pm, as it's highly likely that the entire aisle will be shuttered down. Tesco should Employ more staff if that's what it takes to have a fully functioning store. The Scan as you Shop pay area is very often closed at busy times, so you have to queue to pay at the self scanning section - what's the point? The scanners themselves are super slow, compared to other Tescos in the area. On a few occasions, I've found out of date items on the shelves, including an entire metal rack full of eggs - what a waste. The only good thing I have to say is that the staff, who always seem to be run off their feet, are friendly and helpful.

Large car park makes parking easy as uses spaces free. Large store selling most essential items as well as having a cafe, toliets, electrical items and clothes. Self service checkouts and staffed checkouts. Usually has a range of special offers and promotions. Good store and easy to move around the store.
