Virgin Active Nottingham: A Five-Star Fitness Experience The Virgin Active in Nottingham offers a truly exceptional fitness experience, combining top-tier modern facilities with the charm of a beautiful, historic setting. Stepping into the gym feels less like visiting a typical health club and more like entering an exclusive, well-cared-for space. The gym itself is remarkably spacious and impeccably clean. The excellent facilities cater to every fitness need, from a comprehensive cardio suite to extensive weight areas, ensuring you never have to queue, even during peak times. The entire venue is maintained to an extremely high standard, making every visit a pleasure. One of the standout features is the impressive and varied timetable. There are plenty of different classes available, truly offering something for everyone, regardless of fitness level or goal. The specialized Grid classes are particularly fantastic—they are challenging, fun, and highly effective. A special shout-out must go to the instructors: Alix and Jess are phenomenal, bringing energy, expertise, and great motivation to every session. The convenience is unmatched. Located within a lovely historic building, the atmosphere adds an extra layer of enjoyment to your workout routine. Plus, the facility offers a good-sized free car park, eliminating the usual stress of city-centre parking. Virgin Active Nottingham is more than just a gym; it’s a premier wellness destination that comes highly recommended.

Nice gym and lovely site team. Easy to busy and poor layout results in lots of people in a small space with other areas poorly utilised. Gym etiquette like putting weights back is now rare with a new group of users leaking stuff everywhere.

I wish I had moved gyms to Virgin years earlier. I'm so impressed with the quality of all the staff. The changing rooms are clean and spacious. If you are a serious swimmer you are well catered for. The pool is first class and there's plenty of training equipment as well as a swim club.

I've been really impressed with Virgin Active in Nottingham, the facilities are clean, modern, and well-maintained, but what truly sets this gym apart is the team. From the moment you walk in, you're met with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes coming to the gym feel like a pleasure, not a chore. A special shout-out has to go to Suzi, (Experience Consultant), who genuinely raises the bar when it comes to customer care. Her energy, friendliness, and attention to detail make such a difference, she always takes the time to check in, remembers your name, and makes sure you're getting the most from your membership. It's those small touches that make a big impact. In a world where many gyms can feel transactional or impersonal, the staff here make it feel like a community. Thanks for making fitness feel fun and inclusive. Keep up the great work!

Great building. Generally lovely staff. Very poor experience this evening. Given several warnings the sauna, steamroom, pool, changing facilities and gym floor were all closing at 9:45. Since when has the gym floor been included in this list? Google (& our contracts that we signed) state the closing time as 10pm. When I complained face to face it was explained that this was to give people time to leave the gym. Not acceptable. While I get closing the pool, sauna and steamroom 15 minutes early, the gym and shower should not. We have been members for over 20 years way back then, staff were kept on 15 minutes to do any tidying up after closing. Why can this not be done now? You invest in new equipment but not in people to maintain it. My membership has gone up to cover the refurbishment and since the standards have slipped in all areas. The cleanliness is horrific; I was told the cleaning is now outsourced and you have experienced problems. This is not acceptable. Deep cleaning should be done out of opening hours. I visit the gym first thing in the mornings too and the showers are filthy (grime, bits of fluff and body hair clearly not washed away). While some of the new equipment is good, some has not been properly designed so for example, some pulleys often render other equipment useless. Some of the benches also have loose screws. This topped off by a significant increase in student members who do not know how to put equipment away leads to the gym floor being left untidy for staff members who are lifeguards having to put things away. Perhaps members should be reminded to look after the equipment and put it back when they have finished? After all a life guard’s job is to life guard. It is not to grumpily tell members to leave the gym floor before the advertised closing time.

Great gym, i have used every gym in Nottingham but I always come back to Virgin Active, friendly staff, great changing rooms and top of range equipment. Could do with electric car charging in car park. Overall i can’t complain

Very nice club. I’m from London and was visiting family over the holiday period and thought it would be worth checking out. Its such a shame that the similar priced clubs in London are no way near this premium. As with the one in Salford Quays, it is on a different level to my home club in terms of size, quality of equipment, facilities and cleanliness.

The gym is well maintained full of equipment even when it is rush hour and full of people. The facility’s are lovely and clean! The pool is a great environment and always very clean too, added the temperature of the pool is perfect having two pools splits it up and is good for children too. The staff are great and the price for membership isn’t too bad it is very reasonable for what you get

An excellent gym in the building of a former train station. While it is not cheap, it is excellent value for money though if you want a good selection of exercise machines, weights, classes, swimming pool, plunge pool for kids and a steam room and sauna under one roof. You can use the Virgin Active app to handle your guest passes, class bookings, etc. Plus if you have kids you can get 2 hours of childcare included in the V Kids Club. There is a café area, but it closes about 4pm ish and I haven't yet tried their coffees, yet. Ample parking is also available.
