   Called here at 5am to fill up a hire car before returning it to Belfast City Airport as the website says it is open 24 hours. It is not. The lights were on but the pumps were off. I suspect it doesn’t open til 6am. Be warned. Went to a 24 hour Maxol station nearby which was actually open as advertised.

   A place I go on my Harley when it is thirsty for a glug of road juice, a.k.a. petroleum. I habitually pay at the pump because time is money when the open road of the Sydenham bypass is calling. I never forget to swipe my clubcard, because points makes rewards. When the guage tells me the tank is full, I stop filling and I put on my mirrored sunglasses, my leather gloves and my helmet. The key goes in the ignition and is turned. I tear off into the night, my long grey mane and beard tousling in the wind at my hind. I'm definitely not having a midlife crisis. That is crazy talk.

   It's one of those stores that feel unfinished. Like they opened for business 10 years ago but never really finished setting up.. very random selection of stock,, very limited selection. If they put some hot food or a microwave for night time workers with soups, sausage rolls, burgers etc they would be the go to place. Taco patrol stations are all very uninviting and rarely even have the essentials stocked let alone any real choice. Why Tescos management don't see this and make changes is beyond me.

   Due to the low prices for petrol and diesel, some pumps were running out, so the thankfully had staff in bright yellow wet gear on a horrible day guiding drivers to the appropriate pump number, hat's off to them for a splendid job.

   Apart from this store stocking 6 variations of sugar soft drinks, and not a single WATER!!. I often feel a sense of pure intrusion when going to pay for anything, as the conversation between tillers seems far more important than my custom. #sorry to interrupt your deep conversation
