   Just to say that I have just arrived home, after 4 nights in the City Hospital. My care in Morton and Newell wards was superb, the Nurses, Pharmacists and Doctors were so friendly, professional and caring. The food was of a good standard, and a shout out for Avril, who controls the catering staff and distribution to patients, and helps everyone. Thank you all from Alan. (White area)

   Staff are excellent. Cannot fault the care side of things at all. Roads around the facility are a little bit confusing, but, a full excursion on the estate road did lead us to a space and convenient car park. Fees for parking a bit of a disaster! Number plate recognition could not identify car on exit when we tried tk pay at the machine. Was instructed to pay at the barrier and was charged £10 for what should've costed us £2.50. More than a bit disenchanted along with a couple of others! Will use pay and display next time and tolerate a short walk.

   My grandmother was admitted to City Hospital after what began as an infection was later diagnosed as pneumonia. During her stay, further tests revealed she had lung cancer, news that was delivered to her without care or compassion. For two months, she was placed in Fleming Ward, where the experience became more distressing than supportive. Despite being on end-of-life care, the staff did not communicate openly with us about her condition. We arrived just twenty minutes before she passed away, leaving us little chance to say goodbye properly. Throughout her stay, the standard of care was deeply troubling. She often waited long periods for assistance after pressing her call button, sometimes up to half an hour. On several occasions, she was handled roughly, and once she was even dropped. At night, doctors would remind her bluntly of her diagnosis, showing little regard for her emotional state. When she struggled to eat and drink, no IV drip was provided, even though family members with medical knowledge suggested it. Requests for simple interventions, like a blood test, were poorly managed and left her in pain. Her dignity was often ignored. She was left exposed during bed changes, made to wait uncomfortably for the commode, and denied basic comforts such as adequate bedding or access to a fan. The ward environment felt cold, unwelcoming, and at times unhygienic. Family members were even reprimanded for small things, like getting water. On her final days, she appeared frightened and withdrawn, expressing feelings of being mistreated and unwanted. Her last words reflected a deep sense of mistrust and sadness. What should have been a place of care and comfort in her final weeks instead became a source of suffering, leaving our family heartbroken and appalled.

   On Sunday 27/7 I was staying with my sister in Nottingham when I was taken ill. She called the ambulance service & as I was having difficulty with my breathing I was taken to the respiratory ward at this hospital. I spent 1 night there and was then transferred to the cystic fibrosis unit as there was a spare bed there. I was there for 3 nights. In all that time I had the most amazing care from all the staff. Everybody was very helpful and very cheerful. I really could not have had a better experience at an expensive private hospital. Even the food was good! Thank you so much
