I was a patient here in 2023 during an acute episode of psychosis, after being released I relapsed and was sent to a different hospital only a month or so later. Since I'm able to compare the two, I can say that priory arnold offered excellent facilities. Of course it's not nice being in hospital, which is amplified ten fold in such a mental state in a completely unknown place (thoughts of am I in prison, purgatory, a reality show set and the like). But as I came to I was able to apreciate that my bedroom was spacious, living room area large with comfortable lounging, the computer room let me listen to music and research about my condition, the garden was good room for excersize and the food was not completely terrible. Staff created a sense of amicability between themselves and the patients, which now i'm fully recovered I have bizziarely fond memories of what felt like something of a community. I never want to be here as a patient or any hospital for that matter again, but I think more mental health wards in the country should be like this one, the big comfortable spaces and being around nature are so imprtant. -T

Well where do I start . You get treated better in prison. It cost the nhs Β£800 per night i was informed.. . No hot water for 3 days due to boiler problems. No cup of tea till 3pm as night staff locked mill away.. No towels to dry urself my husband had to use a pillow case. Tv in room doesn't work. I would like to know when the last inspection was on this dump.. i will be taking this matter further to ceo etc..

I had a great experience here on clumber ward and they really helped me with my mental health issues. Although other patients had worse problems they were always able to tend to my needs. Food is good and staff are friendly

Worst hospital I have ever worked in. Can't say more. It's worse than the Cqc write ups.

My five star rating goes to the psychology team, in particular to the head of psychology Natalie Gillbanks. The psychological treatment that has been available to me at Priory Arnold has been outstanding. Natalie has a really impressive knowledge of many therapies and has taught me a wide range of skills, in particular EMDR and radically open DBT. On top of my 1:1 treatment I’ve also had access to a weekly DBT and a weekly positive well-being group which has improved my skills further. Most weeks I’ve therefore had over 2 hours of therapy on top of the occupational therapy programme, and it has all contributed towards a positive and safe step down to a different service. Many thanks

I could complain like everybody else but I am here to give thanks because my stay here quite probably saved my life. I would like to give extra special thanks to the following people whose help and human kindness was invaluable. Martin for being one of the nicest, loveliest and funniest people I have ever met. Dr Ajish. The amazing Jess who really understood everything that I was going through. Also Mike, Julia Joe and Emie for running after me with my keys when I left and everyone else who put the effort to do what I witnessed to be a difficult job in challenging circumstances. Thank you so much guys. I'll try not to remember the horrible dark cloud I was under but I will always remember your kindness. All the best, William.

My daughter was admitted here last Tuesday. She is awaiting a psychiatrist review/assessment. I have visited on several occasions and phoned many people regarding the care of my daughter. She is very vulnerable and was admitted to here after an intensive care admission. She went into the priory voluntarily for help. However, she has received no help. Her medication has been stopped and we are told that her psychiatric assessment could be another week. She is scared as she is alone in a room with no windows. She is too scared to come out of the room because of other patients. They are posting nasty things through her door on a daily basis.every time we call and leave messages for someone to call us back it never happens. I need some answers and help for my daughter. I am seriously considering contacting the CQC about this. I can’t see my daughter suffer like this any longer.

Staff are very unprofessional, reception staff are good however the staff located on newstead ward are very uncaring and like to provoke the patients resulting in distressed reactions, the staff don’t allow patients to eat in their rooms even though they suffer from social anxiety and struggle to mix with others or strangers, some staff are okay however the hospital is very unprofessional and I would not recommend for anyone suffering with mental health to be on this ward. Staff like to disturb patients early hours in the morning to lock possessions away under a bed where they cannot get access to them and talk over patients having a general conversation and not explaining to patients why things have to be locked away. This is very uncaring and takes away patients right to privacy and dignity resulting in them becoming distressed and uneasy. This does not help aid the patients problems, the nurses have attitude problems and laugh at patients when they are feeling anxious or upset. They don’t explain medications and just expect patients to take them without questioning.
