We came here on Saturday 29th December and it was closed the man cleaning the floor said that the staff hadn't turned in. Very let down

Lovely museum but could be better sign posted as it's easily missed.

GOOD MUSEUM! If you've rolled into town like me not knowing a thing about Carrickfergus, this museum is a good educator of the town's history. The museum looks like it charges money, but it's free to go inside. Lots of artefacts and displays showing you the history of the town. It's part of a larger civic building with a coffee shop and an art gallery, so it's worth checking out.

We didn't actually visit the museum, we were looking for the tourist centre which used to be there. I have heard the museum is quite good.

The Carrickfergus Museum located in the town of Carrickfergus, Co. Antrim is a wonderful place to visit. You will be able to see items recovered from excavation from the area that dates back as far as 4000 BC. The museum has an area dedicated to show what the town wouldn’t have looked like in the early days of its established time periods.
