Beautiful traditional cinema! Comfy seats and at £6 a ticket you can’t go wrong. Was cold in there but was pre warned by the kind staff and offered a free hot drink! Use it or you’ll lose it!
We went to a free screening here of I swear a great film. Friendly front of house staff and cheap snacks and drinks - lovely to see such a beautiful building repurposed as it was intended

What an awesome place, it doesn't look much from the outside, but it has lots of character and charm from the inside, the seats could definitely do with a refurb, the price of the tickets was HALF THE PRICE of the regular cinemas, I will be using this place from now on, considering that the big boys are at least £15 per ticket, even the popcorn is reasonably priced.
It's my favorite cinema. It has friendly and professional staff always ready to assist. It is situated in the middle of Ilkeston just off the Market Place, with a public car park next to it The Scala is one of the oldest operating cinema in the UK. I have visited again and it is still a great experience. The staff are the most friendly and add to the cinema experience. I have been to the Scala today, 21st February it is a pleasure to visit. The scala is affordable in these times of rising prices more than value for money
Wonderful local cinema. A relic in time that needs to be supported. Tickets are really well priced. Lots of snacks choices available. Welcoming and friendly staff. Definitely a fantastic asset for Ilkeston.
This place is a little gem, a single screen cinema still well maintained from the early 1900’s. Given its age however the seating is comfy, screen was great quality, sound was good & the staff were very friendly. I look forward to returning here.
People really need to try this place!! Local, single-screen cinema, but has massive character. Great range of food, drink and snacks, and super-friendly staff. Yes the seats are a little tatty, but that adds to the character. At £5.50 for adults, this is less than half the price you'd pay at the multiplex cinemas. We need to support places such as this as would be a great shame (and a massive loss), if places like this didn't survive.
