My son fractured his ACL ligament. Chris Connolly operated on him. The surgery went well. I am sure he is a technically skilled and knowledgeable surgeon. However, both my wife and I found him to be an arrogant, unpleasant, condescending and haughty in his interactions with us. It was his and the anaesthetist's responsibility to explain the side effects of the anaesthetics that were given to my son. When my wife informed him that we hadn't been informed about this as it clearly, he told her off in a abrupt manner, even though in the supplied documentation provided by the clinic it clearly stated that we are entitled to be informed of the potential side effects in advance of the operation. However, we were not. Furthermore, after the operation was completed, when I merely asked about the side effects of the operation later in life (i.e. arthritis) he again barked at me in an unpleasant and angry manner, saying that the operation had been successful and that I shouldn't be concerned about this because my son will be older than me when the potential risk of arthritis will kick in. All this after paying over £7500 for the operation, which cleaned me out to be honest. My wife and I were obviously concerned about our son, but we got no sensitivity from him. I think the way he behaved to my wife was bordering on patriarchal and condescending sexism. I wish I had trusted my original instincts had gone with the NHS. In my experience doctors and nurses working exclusively for the NHS have a duty of care, humanity and a social conscience about them. They truly believe in public service and are in it for the right reasons. I contrast how Chris Connolly behaved to the NHS physiotherapists who worked patiently and diligently with my son to rehabilitate him. They were also polite, friendly and took an extra effort to explain what was needed to the parents. I admire them for their professionalism and decency, and am forever grateful. They provide a marked contrast to the behaviour of Connelly.

VERY stressful as the clinic has no parking. And also no nearby parking. Keep this in mind when taking someone with mobility issues, or minors, there. On the positive side, I am satisfied with the care my daughter received.

Chris Connolly did my full knee replacement, in November 2018, and I was extremely pleased with my treatment. Mr Connolly, and his staff were caring, and kind. I would definitely go to him again.

I had a work accident but also had a previous knee problem I wanted to get a second opinion on. I got an appointment with in a week of calling. When I arrive & saw the consultant he had my previous MRI up & was going thought it, explaining what I had done. He also when thought a treatment plan for it. As I had a work accident to check my knee to see what going on. As the MRI was over a year old I required a new MRI which I also get that some week. From my initial contact with the Belfast Knee clinic to my first appointment. I can highly recommend them to anyone who has knee problems or even to get a second opinion.
