Excellent care and a very coordinated team treated my husband earlier this year. The treatment was tough but the support was amazing. Thank you so much to everyone in the Cancer Centre especially the head and neck team and all the staff in 2A.

My mum’s chemotherapy was delayed at almost every stage in the Belfast (City Hospital) Cancer Centre, despite mum’s bloods being perfect on each occasion and due to unreasonable delays by the NHS, for treating INCURABLE cancer. Two bank holidays delayed one chemo - how is this allowed to happen?! The greatest farce is that Encompass implementation will delay chemo yet again! We were informed that Encompass will make wards and chemo 50% LESS efficient, less patients will be seen across the trust and somehow Encompass has disgustingly delayed chemo for everyone - at all stages of cancer (apparently). People will die unnecessarily, my mum has lost precious time because of these delays, which are met with the same scripted excuses - akin to excuses that the NHS have ready and waiting. You’re ’just another number’ has never been more evident. The nursing assistants and nurses have been lovely. Mum needed checked when unwell and upon entering a Cancer Centre ward, another cancer patient was coughing, hoarse and loaded with something nasty. We aired our concerns to staff and were informed the guy was Covid negative - that doesn’t account for the many other nasty viruses circulating at present! Staff asked if we wanted to wear masks, instead of staff making the guy wear a mask - something wrong here?!! Is this a trust policy? Very poor treatment and planning. Apparently the most vulnerable are protected but this occurrence is a harsh contradiction. Further antibiotics were discussed with this man, so why was this man placed in a ward with fellow cancer patients?? I naively thought we’d be safe in the cancer centre. There have been significant failures throughout this hellish cancer journey and I’m losing hope. Things could have been so much better at every stage.

From day of diagnosis June 22 to end of Jan 24 I had the most caring treatment from all departments in the Cancer centre and the Tower . So many ppl involved and each of them were brilliant. Thankyou Dr Crawford and Mr Irwin for my care.

Unfortunately I needed the services of this hospital and I can honestly say I was in the best hands every step of the way. Kind courteous and professional and caring. I could not have wished for better care from everyone I came into contact with. Thank you all.

Hi I would like to thank and praise the staff at the cancer centre from the receptionists to the radiographers and doctors for the treatment I received between January and April 2022. I was always treated with respect and care and felt like i mattered. Thanks again to you all. Edna Rowe

On visiting The Cancer Centre this morning Monday April 4 where I met the Receptionist who was so pleasant. Next, I had a meeting with Dr Crawford who is an absolute credit to his profession. Finally, I met with their Radiography team Laura, Bronagh and I'm so sorry I can't remember the other girl's name. They were so pleasant and caring. Just a big thank you to all of you for caring so much and making my ordeal so much easier. Rita Thornton
