Fantastic b&b staff were brilliant and food in the bar downstairs was excellent a little noisy when deliveries being made out back but nothing serious would stay again.
Stayed at Walters Place this weekend. Cannot speak highly enough of the service, cleanliness and quality of the accommodation here, it's excellent, room was beautifully decorated! Breakfast next day was fabulous too, special mention to our fab breakfast host Jack, nothing was too much trouble! Will definitely stay here again!
July 2024. Serene seaside escape with the most beautiful sea view from bed. Photos won't do it justice - the room is beautiful and the owner of Ownies (Jack, I believe) really has an eye for detail. It's a luxury feel worthy of the price and the bed feels so comfortable and upmarket with a wide open space luxury bathroom. Every detail was pristine and perfect. I loved waking up and looking right at the sea from bed. Couldn't get any more lovely than that! Remarkably the room is quiet despite being right by the road. I stayed at the weekend and didn't hear the gastropub downstairs at all. Had an issue with cold water which seems like a rarity (no mention whatsoever in hundreds of other rooms) and also the fire alarm going off which took a long time to be resolved due to another customer, not the fault of the hotel. I have to admit that these issues did affect me being able to relax and it meant I had to pass on the breakfast as I didn't have time. If they would ever be open to it, I would be grateful for a moderate (say 15-25%) discount for a future stay given it affected my enjoyment of the room for over two hours in the morning from 8-10:30 am and I was rushing before checkout. Please note, this is still an excellent review. Sometimes things can go wrong and this was not the fault of Walter's Place. I would definitely stay again.
This is a very nice B&B! Qe found it in the internet because of the good recommendations. You are welcomed in the pub located next to it. The room was spacious and very clean. We loved the shower and the bright bathroom. Breakfast is served in the pub again. The prices are really fair and reasonable!
Walter's Place was a lovely little B&B that we found by chance whilst booking a last-minute trip to Northern Ireland. We wanted somewhere cozy, comfortable, and quiet and this ticked all the boxes! Everything ran smoothly throughout our five-night stay. Check-in was next door at Ownies Bar where you also go for your breakfast. The staff were warm and inviting and couldn't do enough for you. We stayed in the Koi Carp room which although didn't have the best view (a small courtyard around the back), the decor and facilities definitely made up for this. There has obviously been a lot of thought into the interior design of the room which was stunning. We had a (huge!) king-sized bed, a tv with Netflix, a fridge, and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower. The room was quiet and we didn't hear any noise from the neighbouring pub. There were plenty of delicious options for breakfast which we managed to work our way through during our stay. We had an evening meal at Ownies one evening as well which was superb. The atmosphere and food at the pub were excellent and it was very welcoming. Walter's Place is very well connected in Carrickfergus, with the railway station about 5-10 minutes walk away. The high street is just around the corner with all of your essentials and some lovely bars and restaurants. Can highly recommend The Dobbins Inn and Castello Italia for evening meals.
Stayed here after our wedding and it was a lovely room really nice breakfast and everyone we spoke to was really nice and helpful.
Stay for the weekend Friday to Monday, for my niece’s wedding.we had a outstanding time, the rooms are great , very comfortable beds and the pillows are so soft. Having a fridge in the room was so good in hot weather. Staff was so friendly & helpful, also the food at ownie’s was great. Will be back again
Walter's place was the first stop on our 2 week trip, and it set the standard high. The room was so comfortable, beautiful, and Clean. We still dream about the breakfast and the seafood chowder from Ownies. And it is in a lovely, quiet town. Would LOVE to be back someday.
Great place to base yourself for a trip to Northern Ireland. Definitely better than staying in Belfast IMO, especially if you've rented a car to get around. The place was well priced and an even better location. Across the road from Carrick Fergus Castle, and around the corner from the causeway coastal route. Breakfast was lovely from a meat and veggie perspective. We were annoyed we had to miss it 1 day cause we had a super early start 1 day. The staff were something else. Our heater broke, so they gave us a Dyson fanless heater as a temp solution and sent out a crack team to get the heater working again in about 10 minutes. Then we had a chat like we knew them for about 5 years. Good sized rooms for a couple or small family. Clean and tidy, bedding was soft and slept like babies. When I come back to NIre I'm staying here for sure.
We stayed in the Jade room for 3 nights which was perfect for a family of 3. The room was clean, spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The breakfast was great and filling - lots of choice. The location of this B&B is excellent. Thank you to the team at Walter's Place for making our stay so enjoyable.
