Unfortunately, my recent visit was very disappointing and has put me off returning. At the counter, I asked clearly for the £4.99 kids box and repeatedly declined the upgraded option. Despite this, I was charged £6.49 for the upgraded box I had specifically said I did not want, and I was given the wrong snack. When I queried the price, the staff member was dismissive and insisted I had asked for the upgrade, which I had not. By that point, I felt rushed as we were already late for the film. There was also no staff member on the ticket gate when we went to enter the screen, which caused further delay and meant we missed the start of the film and had to find our seats in the dark. Inside the screen, the experience worsened. The foyer and screen both smelled very damp and unpleasant, and the screen was uncomfortably cold. There was also a strong smell coming from a large assistance dog in the row in front of us, which made it very difficult to enjoy the film. While I fully understand that assistance dogs are allowed, this can still present issues for other customers with allergies, asthma, sensory sensitivities, or anxiety. No support, seat change, or alternative options were offered. What was most disappointing was the follow-up from customer services, which focused on CCTV timings rather than addressing the substance of the complaint, including the incorrect charge and accessibility concerns. Overall, this visit fell well below the standard I would expect, and the handling of the complaint has only added to the frustration.

Hasn't been upgraded since taking over from Apollo Cinemas. At 6ft the legroom.is so tight that my knees are cramped behind the hard back of the seat in front. Makes for a very uncomfortable experience. It's a shame it cannot be upgraded to the standard of other VUE Cinemas. I can't attend this particular one again due to the legroom.

Don't understand the terrible reviews , visited lastnight to see a movie , place was spotless, you could smell the chemicals , very friendly happy staff , seats were comfy, screen room warm and volume perfect . Id go back and highly recommend visiting if your on holiday like we were !

What amazes me the most about Vue Paignton AKA Apollo cinema inside is that even with all the bad reviews on here, the company won't refit the place with proper seating like every other Vue cinema. Go to any Vue around the country and pay around the same price as the Paignton one and you will get proper value for money. Leather seats, full leg room, better screens, better food and free parking. All Vue did when they bought out the apollp cinema was change the outside logo and reception, That's all! If you check under the seating I bet there is old chewing gum from 1990 too.

Very small, quite uncomfortable seats. I'm only 5'3 and I couldn't sit properly without my knees hitting the chair in front of me, and I was worried that sitting up straight would completely obscure the view of the person behind me. There were also 2 lights that stayed on all the way through the movie, right in the middle aisle, one right above us, and this really ruined the cinema aesthetics. I'm glad I tried it, so I know that I wouldn't go back. Overpriced even for Vue's prices

Staff are pleasant and the cinema was clean, we enjoyed our visit. One downside is the pop corn is no longer freshly made on the premises.

Massive cinema building comprising multiple screens differing in size. In a great location right on the seafront in Paignton. I do unfortunately think it's a sign of the times that the times we have visited have been quite quiet. Maybe days are numbered for a building of this size solely for use as a cinema??? But still a nice experience out with the family. Really cheap tickets (as cinemas go) £4.99 any film. With prices ranging upward for premium seats experiences etc. The cinema is clean and the seats are comfy. There is an empty bar upstairs which kind of emphasises the downturn from its hay days. There is no specific car park but there is parking all along the seafront a few metres away with multi storey parking nearby. Like everyone else, I love to stream content at home but really hope there is enough support to keep these premises going, in one form or another, as nothing beats watching a new movie that really grips you in the surroundings of the big screen.

It's been some time since we visited a Vue Cinema with the old style seating (not the most comfortable of seats), most have been updated with the leather recliners in the area we live. The building was very clean and the staff were friendly, we watched the Whitney Houston film "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" which is definitely worth watching as it gives a really good insight to how she started singing and all the things that went wrong for her.

I can't complain about the venue, but I gave 2 stars because the viewing experience was just not good, even in 3D. The picture was dull. My TV at home has a far superior picture than this. I hadn't visited a theatre for years, so I don't know if this is normal or not. I can't wait for Avatar 2 to come out for sale so I can rewatch at home.

Handy cinema on the seafront in Paignton. Staff very helpful. Particular mention to Mark who works in the food / ticketing section. He helped us out with a duplicate ticket issue. Nothing was too much trouble. Not the biggest seats for my legs but great value for money.
