We were thrilled to watch the live screening of the Royal Ballet's produuction of Nutcracker this week at the Alexandra. It was my first visit and I was really impressed with the welcome, the comfort, and all-round quality of the cinema, and I'm looking forward to many more visits!

Had a great time, lady behind the counter allowed me to try some of the crisps so I'd know if I liked them beforehand or not, which was a great help as I discovered I did not, in fact, like them, which meant I knew to avoid buying them so they wouldn't be wasted, and ended up buying popcorn instead. The seats were rather comfortable and the screen we were in was very clean. I would go here again so long as a film I wanted to watch was being shown.

I love the Alex! So friendly and easy access. Booked seats in advance but we still needed to queue to get a paper ticket from the man who was also serving refreshments! This doesn't work. One person to do advanced tickets and one to serve refreshments. Toilets spotless and easy to get in and out. Good refreshments. Excellent sound quality. We really enjoyed tge film.

Lovely old cinema. I moved back into the area about three years ago. Me and the wife decided to go and see Top gun Maverick at the Alex, the very cinema we saw the first Top Gun movie all those years ago. Obviously things change over the years as has the Alex and very much a change for the better with 2 screens and spacious seating but still retaining a cosy atmosphere. We have just returned from watching Avatar, (well worth a watch) this time seated in the upstairs auditorium. The Alexander is extremely good value for money. It’s future is under threat due to local council plans for a “revamp” of the building. The Alex is, as far as I know, the only cinema that serves Newton Abbot, Ashburton, Bovey Tracy and the surrounding areas. Please use it or we really might lose a local gem.

A pleasant small cinema which shows some of the latest releases though it does appear to only have 2 screens. It appears to be in a converted older style building that blends in well with the surrounding area. In terms of the sound quality in screen 2 it was top notch, but the rest of the place looks a little dated and could so with a bit of a revamp. The seats are okay though and there is plenty of legroom. The staff are friendly and helpful. There looks to be quite a wide range of reshfreshments being sold considering the size of the building. Pretty decent value for money entertainment.
