   Would never use again, Solicitor ok, aftercare/process team terrible. Settlement agreed with legal ombudsman over process issues, lots of silly reasons why Chattertons would not pay. (Refused to pay because I did not want to give them a copy of my bank statement, then because they did not have bank details even though I had given them). In the end they never paid and I gave up chasing.

   Having used a different Solicitor for a legal matter recently and not being satisfied with the service received I decided to use Chattertons of Grantham on the advice of a couple of people who'd used them in the past. I'm very pleased I did...Chattertons are a very professional and good quality Solicitors who I would definitely use again and recommend to anybody needing to use this service. The person who dealt with my legal issues (Liz Graham) has an extremely vast wealth of knowledge and experience and kept me informed of proceedings every step of the way. I felt very confident with the information I received and advice given. This all helped to make a difficult matter as easy to understand as it could be. The cost was set out simply each step of the way and itemised so you know what you're paying for.

   I first used Chattertons some 8 years ago and was represented by Robert Clark, Partner in charge of the Grantham office. He did not impress me with the size of fee charged nor when he allowed himself to be outwitted in court by a lay person. However some 3 years ago I again sought services from his firm to draw up wills for my wife and me. He referred me to his assistant Maz Dudley, who was effective and helpful. Today, 19 January 2018, I contacted his office to request him to witness documents for my application for a Canadian Passport. I needed any "professional" who had known me at least 2 years to "guarantee" my authenticity and verify the photos submitted were a true likeness. This would have taken no more than 5 minutes of his time, yet if asked, I should have been prepared to pay a small fee despite me having paid him many hundreds of pounds in the past. The receptionist spoke to him and passed on the message that he refused to help. In a telephone conversation 6 hours later he explained that he did not consider he was qualified to perform this task as he did not know me "personally". Furthermore he would have to raise the internal paperwork to cover this service, taking more of his time such that the minimum charge would be £65. I declined and told him that as a former professional and Partner in large management consultancy firms I regarded his analysis as flawed and his stance as unjustifiable and that I would withdraw any further business from Chattertons. I cannot recommend anyone ever to use their Grantham office services whilst he is in charge.
