An absolutely lovely experience when buying lumch for my very poorly MIL on Thursday that created an occasion I'll never forget. Thank you to the very lovely server for your kindness, it meant the world after such a trying few days. Needless to say, my MIL devoured her fish and chips and the delight on her face spoke a thousand thank-yous. XxX
Lets be clear.... I love George's fish and chips. I always make an effort to find one on lunch breaks wherever work should take me. You can always depend on George's to serve crisp fresh chips and light crisp batter in every store I have ever visited........... all except Ilkeston. It's a local running joke that "if you like soggy fish and chips go to George's" I have actually mentioned it a few times to the management and I'm always told that "it's the batches of potatoes". Surely if it's the potatoes then it wouldn't have been the same for years and other George's I visit would also have this issue from time to time. Just to reiterate regularly order from: Sutton Branch. West Bridgford Branch. Long Eaton Branch. None of these stores ever have soft or soggy food. Please Ilkeston branch sort it out. You had all new fryers not long ago and it seems they still aren't hot enough. A brand new shop front but the food inside isn't matching the investment made. Nice and polite front staff as usual.
This place is incredible, we eat in the restaurant (open 1130-1700),on various bus routes, lovely lady serving and the food!!!! Woohh ncredible thin batter on the fish
The quality, value for money, and service were excellent. It's one of the best fish and chip places in the East Midlands. The fish is fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this place!
Still not accepting the George Cards or giving out points? Had sausage, chips and curry sauce X3 loads of chips, service good and quick. Only downside is parking, as you're trying to find a space to park with other takeaways close by. No good at peak times.

Takeaway and sit in options. The seating area is well kept. Music was a bit of a ‘80s flashback though. Service fast and friendly. Good classic tasting chips and pies.
Very very disappointed!! Always use George’s as they are usually good but found this time that prices have increased whilst portions have gotten smaller also all the chips ( probably only got 15/20 in total !) were rock hard and contained no potato due to being over cooked . Gone extremely down hill !
