   Our experience was a few years ago now, but after reading similar treatment of other pets, I thought I should share it. Edmund saw our border collie who had an upset stomach. He gave her an injection in the scruff of the neck to help with the sickness. The next day, she had developed a golf ball sized lump at the injection site. Over the next day this lump swelled to several inches across. He wouldn't admit that it was to do with the vaccination and called her in for surgery to take a biopsy. When we collected her, we were shocked. He had cut her open from the middle of one shoulder blade all the way round to the other. It was a horrible, jagged looking cut and the stitches looked like something from a horror film. It was absolutely awful. They sent her home without any pain killers, antibiotics or aftercare advice. That evening her wound swelled right up with fluid, and burst. The cries from our poor girl were awful. We rang immediately to be told "well yes, it will do that, you need to bring her in for it to be drained". We weren't told this, plus it happened within hours of leaving. They should have put drains in. Then to top it off, when we asked what the lump was, he shrugged his shoulders and said "I don't know, it was some sort of gelatinous goo". He refused to admit it was some sort of reaction to whatever he had put in her (the vial was kept on a dusty shelf, not in a clean cupboard). We were furious with the whole thing and never went back.

   We took the difficult decision to have our much loved family dog of 14 years put to sleep this evening. Mr Shilabeer and his staff were kindness itself, explained what was happening and gave us plenty of time to say our goodbyes. I can't recommend him highly enough. Thank you.

   AVOID AVOID AVOID. Lost my beloved dog as a result of this shocking vet. Would not see her for 4 hours when she was drastically unwell yet claims to be 24hr care. Took her to the emergency vet who was horrified he had not noticed the clear signs of life threatening ketoacidosis and instead simply gave her an anti sickness jab. I sadly had to have her put to sleep. He failed to do any blood tests or scans or manage diabetes properly that he ended up killing her. The prices are made up as you go along, it is unhygienic, and simply a shoddy vet practice. I would urge EVERYONE to avoid as my dog would still be here today if it weren’t for this shambles of a vet. Not even deserving of 1 star and WILL NEVER RETURN

   Absolutely awful service from the vets, AVOID. I would vote zero stars if I could. Had a prescription sent over from another vet in Somerset for my animal (fully signed off and documented by a veterinarian in Somerset) also with my pets medical record being sent over, she’d been seen by another vet fully examined and had a full report. Which indicated her condition. They refused to prescribe my medication unless they could examine my cat first, requiring further charge, I said this was completely unnecessary as they had her record, I throughout my life have had nearly 78 cats who’ve all lived and died throughout my life. I moved here and registered her with this vets reading the great reviews. Avoid this vets, they clearly put money over the health of the animals they treat. I clearly stated this over the phone. Absolutely abhorrent. There is no other way to describe it.

   Moved vets last year to South Moor Vets instead after a horrible experience here that left my cat really nervous of vets. South Moor are fantastic, would recommend going there instead. Do not recommend this vet.

   Mr Shillabeer, vet Helen and receptionist/assistant Mary are absolutely amazing. They have been so reassuring, helpful, caring and given me so much more then they could know with my boy Bronson. Recently my son has changed to Harwell with his little pup and my new pup is also going to be their client. Honest, honorable, fair, knowledgeable and so well priced I can't say how happy I am to be part of the practice

   Wouldn’t recommend. Vet was very rough with my dog and had little to no empathy at all. Also tried to put her through unnecessary surgery at a very young age without any further tests. I now struggle with her being terrified of the vets. The nurses and reception staff are lovely though

   My husband and daughter took our little cat to be checked due to passing small amount of blood and mucus. Had really good advice, medication and worming treatment, all fir a very good price. Really happy we chose this practice as the vet was caring and helpful.

   Edmund is a wonderful vet, I have been fortunate to meet him on occasion socially and he is a true gent, and dedicated professional. 50 odd years as a vet, working such hours, with such a busy schedule really takes some doing. We have two dogs registered here presently, and couldn't be happier with the professionalism, in what is always a busy surgery. Thank you.
