Went for krampus event and kids loved it. We went earlier in the year for 1940 event and you get a year access so we got in for free this time. Kids loved it its a great day out with lots of stalls

We went when there was a 1940s event happening. I cannot recommend this place enough. It was absolutely wonderful. So much history. The pump was in steam for the weekend, which is the best way to see it. It is hypnotic. And so quiet for such a lot of heavy metal moving.

Papplewick pumping station was holding a vintage bike event so thought I would attend to see the bikes and give mine a run. Wasn't aware of what an interesting site this was. A working museum of colossal machinery . A James Watt Steam twin cylinder twin beam engine of impressive dimensions 3 stories tall in the main building a n equally impressive smaller twin engine in another building. Feel the heat of the furnaces and look on in awe at the super tall chimney. Add the mini steam train a lovely cafe and the bike show was good too. Located Papplewick nottinghamshire. Will definitely visit again.

Fantastic Victorian Pumping Station. Visited on a "Steaming" day. Great to see the beam engines working. Good displays of related equipment and historical info. Small cafe with very reasonable prices. Limited disabled access, as the main "hall" with the two beam engines is up some steps.

What a lovely place to visit. The grounds are lovely with a play park and lots of picnic benches. So interesting to look around and you can go in for free or pay £4 per person if you want the information booklet. We will be back.

Really good day at the 1940s weekend. The tour around the underground reservoir was amazing and the guide knew all the details. Great to see all the steam engines working and the 1940s event was really well organised.

Interesting place. You learn about pumps... They have a nice cooling pond which have 100s odd carps. You see the old pumping station back in the day on how they move water around the area and understand how steam power work too. They have a small cafe onsite when you need a little break from all the new information you learnt from papplewick.

An absolutely fantastic place to visit ! Especially when they are on a steam day. It was very interesting and the volunteers who were here are clearly passionate about keeping such an extremely important piece of history going. The architecture is stunning. Great time was had. Will definitely return.. thank you

We first bought tickets for the classic cars and with that you get annual pass which lasts a year from signing, so now just book our free tickets online for steam days and show our pass when we get there. Classic motorcycles today, but traction engines, blacksmith, fairground organ and lots more to see including inside the pump house which is amazingly beautiful.. They also have plant sales and a cafe. The volunteers do an amazing job! There is free entry on Sundays between certain dates when they aren't steaming when you can walk round the grounds and visit the cafe.

A little gem of a place, staffed by volunteers. A beautiful Victorian Pumping Station set in small but lovely grounds. Entry is £4 including a very interesting tour. There is a cafe, toilets and children's play area. All staff were polite, helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. They hold steam days where the boilers are fired up and you can visit the underground water chamber. Check their events before going.
