Property Churchill View Salcombe Devon. July 2025. - black mould issue. Paid a lot of money to stay for one week at this property. Only stayed for one night because of the black mould in 2 of the three bedrooms. Also black mould in living room along top of window sill. Garden hard to access because overgrown. Garden not secure for dogs holes in back fence. This could be a lovely property but it needs to be maintained which sadly at the moment it is not. The owners said it was condensation but it is not. They knew about the problem but have failed for a long time to sort the damp problem out. The cleaner can't sort out the mould the owners need to find the source of the damp and fix it. I feel the owners don't really value their customers because if they did they would not let this have happened. Black mould is bad for health. Until they sort out the problem I think it should not be rented out. Customers deserve to have a nice experience. I was shocked at the amount of mould in the bedrooms - ground floor and double bedroom upstairs. I had to sleep on the settee and my other relative had to move out of ground floor bedroom and sleep in bunk bed of children's room I felt the owner was more bothered about the holiday rental income stopping than myself as a customer. Billy at Toad Hall was helpful and found us a property. The owner eventually refunded the money on inspection and Billy at Toad Hall Cottages worked extremely hard to find us another property. But we lost a whole day of the holiday which the owner has not acknowledged. I feel that Toad Hall should monitor the state of properties more. I'm sending video and photos to head office at Toad Hall.
