    The best everyday sushi in Norwich by a country mile. Yes, if you’ve got a bit more time and money Shiki takes some beating, but for a good-quality, healthy lunch under a tenner in town (and there’s plenty of competition), Matane always delivers. Be aware that this is very much a takeaway place with a bit of seating. It’s fine to eat in but a bit bright and cold and the one big table isn’t always clean. Vibes could be improved without too much effort.

    We have been going to Matane for years and it is hands down the best sushi we have found in Norfolk. Their selection is fantastic and the sushi rolls are delicious, if anyone wants take away sushi quickly i recommend here. For larger groups their sharing platters are excellent and for individuals their portions are well sized. Their staff are really nice and have never made us feel unwelcome or awkward. The only downside is their restaurant seating is very limited, around 10 seats inside on a communal table or window table. We have eaten in before and it was perfectly comfortable but I wouldn’t go for a dinner with multiple people. Long story short- Eat here! Take away is the best option, the staff are also very nice!

    The quality of sushi is unreal. So fresh. Every bite is a pleasure. Ordered once on delivery and once for pick up in person. The food travels well on delivery and if picking up in shop the chefs/front of house are lovely. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for sushi in Norwich. It’s so good!

    My two teenagers love Matane Sushi. They sometimes get their lunch in there, and they recommend it to us. My friend from Ipswich visited yesterday (Saturday) and we dropped by at Matane for lunch. We loved it! So this morning (Sunday), I thought I would treat my family with the XL Platter. We were told to wait for 25 minutes, which was fine. Whilst we were waiting, a delivery driver came and was told to wait 10 minutes. This driver said that he was told 10mins ago to wait for 10 minutes. Then a woman named Helen replied back that it was not 10mins yet and that they could not give the exact time to the driver. The driver showed Helen something in the app that says about the time, and Helen started shouting to the driver. She was arguing with the driver at the top of her voice. She even asked the driver for his name, and the driver answered calmly. The driver never said a word after that. But Helen kept on and on about it, shouting to the driver! She even told the driver not to come back there! She was very rude to the driver! And after a while, I was so fed up listening to her going on and on and never stopped shouting, I intervened and said for her to shut up! It was not a very nice atmosphere for customers to hear her shouting at the driver! There was even another delivery driver waiting. I get her point that you cannot give exact time for drivers but you can say it in a professional manner. Just because they are drivers, you will treat them differently? Bear in mind that they are delivering what your customers have ordered. I was so appalled by the attitude. I don't care if you are the owner or manager. You shouldn't shout in front of customers. All you need to say to the driver is "Sorry, it's taking along time as we have other orders as well." That's easy, isn't it! For sure, drivers also have target times to deliver the food. Staff should have proper training and control their anger. Appalling conduct! But despite that scenario, we have enjoyed the platter. Just not fair to experience that kind of rudeness. The other staff apologised to us though, but not Helen! Even the driver said sorry to us. So sorry to post this kind of review but I don't tolerate rudeness and I will speak up for anyone that's being abused! #bekind

    Party platter was fresh and delicious, delivered within an hour of ordering. Would definitely order from Matane again.

    Whilst I would generally recommend Matane Sushi, I have to give then a lower score / less than positive review based on my experience with them today. I popped into their shop and asked for some fresh sushi to be made. They refused to do this telling that all the sushi on display had been there for less than 15 minutes (which seemed unlikely looking the dishes on display). True or not, as a customer I have the right to ask for fresh food, and in my experience top quality sushi places will always prepare fresh food on request - hence a critical review in this instance. I hope I’ll be able to give better feedback after my next visit

    A frequent lunch spot of mine. Great sushi every time, you can see it being made freshly through out the day. Reasonably priced and a great spot to grab a light lunch to take away.
