I was looking forward to coming here but left slightly disappointed. Most of it was lovely, the salads, pita, chips, dips, beans, feta... however the souvlaki just really wasn't very nice. Can't put my finger on it but the meat really didn't taste good. Not fresh or tender, was actually quite off-putting and I usually love my meat.
I was sooo looking forward to going to Nostos. I’ve sampled their food at a hospitality event and it was stunning! While I understand I went on a Wednesday night, the menu was very limited, there were no other diners in the restaurant, the food although very tasty, seemed very expensive for what we eat. The host was very polite and attentive. The food was delivered on an appropriate time and was very tasty. I was very disappointed with my experience!
I booked a table for a date and based on reviews and pictures of the food I was excited to be taking her somewhere special. Unfortunately, the food was just awful, especially given the prices. We couldn’t bring ourselves to eat any of it. The food was dry, used cheap ingredients and was overcooked and bland. Even the Pieter smelt like it was from an Even the pitta had a horrible aftertaste. The waitresses were lovely, but leaving two uneaten dishes and 3/4 of a bottle of wine left you’d expect them to ask if there was anything wrong. The atmosphere was quite nice, but based on the reviews on the exterior I expected the inside of feel less like a café. I was embarrassed that I’d suggested the restaurant in the first place. Not a great impression for a date! Overall, a really disappointing experience.
Fantastic roast! Ideal place and lovely atmosphere for a delicious Sunday roast! The Yorkshire pudding and gravy were especially good! Def recommend adding sides of pigs in blankets and cauli cheese too.
We had a fabulous dinner at Nostos. We started with a Feta Nest, Tzatziki and Pita Bread to share. Mains were Lamb Kleftiko and Traditional Greek Moussaka. Both were absolutely delicious. The lamb just fell off the bone. We were too full to manage a dessert but we did manage a bottle of the Thema Pavlidis Greek red wine and coffees. Lovely meal, lovely cosy venue and the staff were very welcoming. Thank you Nostos, we'll definitely be back :)
Really, really good experience. Food was very well considered and balanced, with excellent presentation. One of the best meals I've had in Brighton and Hove for a very long time and looking forward to coming again.
Food looks and presented in an excellent manner. The service from the young lady was also good. The problem was that when you actually tasted the food it was ok but not to the level of what was presented. Worth another visit even if it is to take further photos of the food
The restaurant owner is very friendly, the dining environment is very good, I like quiet places. The food was good, too, with octopus refreshingly served in an orange sauce and taro eggplant with minced pork. I'll go again if I have the chance!
The attractive seating outdoors in full sun drew us closer, unexpectedly surprising us with our favorite food. Greek!. A celebratory Greek meal seeing my brother for the first time in two years! The Moussaka was absolute perfection in it's presentation and authentic taste! A substantial portion while being light, leaving room for stuffed vine leaves and salad. Beautifuly special stuffed vine leaves here and a Greek salad I wasn't expecting but appreciated in it's quality of taste. My brother enjoyed the soup of the day. A selection of Greek beers and wines to compliment any meal. We'll be back!
I was lucky to find this place by accident (as its not in the main streets) and I can't believe their rating is not pure 5. I had three course meal (ordered separately, actually) and all of them were top notch: nice presentation, fresh ingredients and amazingly tasty. Staff were nice and atmosphere with good vibes. What else you can ask for! Thank you for having me in your lovely Greek restaurant, Nostos!
