It lived up to my expectations and to what I believed it could be, having watched The Great British Menu with Jean Delport. Great attention to detail throughout the entire experience, with excellent flavours, knowledgeable staff, and impeccable execution. Thank you for a memorable day!

Wow, what an incredible experience the 16 course dinner was. The thought, preparation, skill and imagination that went into the whole experience was exceptional. From the chefs serving the dishes and sharing how they came about to the incredible tastes and flavour combinations. The teamwork, personality and passion came across in spades from the whole team. Jean is a genius, we were blown away by-the whole experience and I have never tasted such exceptional food. The price is not cheap, as you would expect, but it was worth every penny. The dishes for my vegetarian gluten free wife were incredible and not the usual afterthought that the majority of restaurants serve. Thank you for the best meal we have ever tasted. One Michelin star is not enough

Anyone that knows me, knows I LOVE the Great British Menu. My best friend treated me to an early surprise birthday day out, and we arrived at Leonardslee for a wine tasting experience followed by a 12-couse, 17-dish tasting menu lunch. This was SUCH a phenomenal experience. Simba, our somellier was engaging, entertaining and super passionate about the sparkling wine, and the journey that Leonardslee has been on. We were really happy that he continued to be part of our own journey through lunch! Where do I start on lunch? This was a whole story, where every single member of the team spoke with enthusiasm, passion and pride about each dish they introduced. From exquisitely delicate balls of beetroot with goats cheese, to beautiful, melt-in-your-mouth Rabbit served 4 ways, to Jean's famous "Ignatious" dish from the Great British Menu, to his take on peppermint crisp tart, the consideration and thought that went into every mouthful could be seen, smelled and tasted. To make it even more special, so much of the produce they have, has been picked, produced or created from their land. Birch syrup from silver birch trees, yeast from leftover bread, and all the herbs found and foraged. This truly was a magical experience, with the most phenomenal food I have ever tasted. Thank you!

Great British Menu has introduced us to a range of chefs, some we have been lucky enough to visit. This year has to be the best one yet! It was the final heat of the series and Chef Jean Delport strolled into the kitchen. As soon as he was introduced as a Michelin starred chef celebrating South African cuisine, our ears perked up. Then he spoke... a South African accent! Intantly we were hooked. We had a patriotic favourite! All we hoped for now was that he would perform well and progress through the competition. And boy, did he do just that! I almost instantly booked a table for lunch, and within 3 weeks of the competition finale airing, we sat down in the bar at Restaurant Interlude. What followed for the next 4 hours can only be described as exquisite. The food was beautifully presented, lovingly prepared and wonderfully tasty. My favourite was the main course, Jean's GBM There and Back Again, an ode to Charles Ignatius Sancho, but the goat was changed to pork. The pork curry was gorgeous, the smoked rice with (I think) mushroom bernaise was epic and the quenelle of chilli pepper 'puree/paste' was stunning. It was super hot, but even with that heat, you could still taste everything on the plate. It was a fantastic show of skill allowing the heat to shine without overpowering everything. The chargrilled broccoli and okra with peanut satay was very moreish. The fruity, mixed spice dust on the fondant potato was like nothing I've eaten before and added a very interesting element to the dish. Love love loved this whole plate of food. The fish course and Rabbit meets Carrot course were also exquisite, but in reality I'd struggle to find anything I didn't like about any of the courses. I can honestly say that Jean and his amazing kitchen team, plus Anya, Helena, Simba and Ndosi and their front of house team were brilliant. We were very well looked after. The gardens around the house are great too for a before or after meal stroll. Some of the art displays in and around the property are fantastic. Let's not forget the vineyard there too... Make the effort and visit, you will not regret it. We will be back.

I have been here for afternoon tea several times, and it never disappoints. Always go hungry as there is a lot of food. Great range of tea to choose from, there is also an option to upgrade to have a glass of bubbles.

The staff were really attentive to a group of us with mixed allergies and dietary requirements. They got everything absolutely right and the service was impeccable. The classic afternoon tea was delicious! Update May 2022: we came back for an anniversary meal - intimate setting, attentive and friendly staff once again. Love the local connection for each dish. Unforgettable night. Thank you!

This intimate, contemporary restaurant has a maximum of 10 tables and is set inside a restored Grade II listed mansion. The mansion, and Grade I listed Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens, are now run by the owner of a South African vineyard, hence the wine list is predominantly South African. The set tasting menu is based upon produce foraged from the gardens and sourced from local suppliers, and so varies with the seasons. The dishes are works of art, looking as beautiful as they taste. My photographs donβt do them justice. Both the Executive Chef and the Head Chef are also South African and some of the dishes have little twists reflecting their homeland. Pre-dinner drinks are in the bar from 6pm, with all diners seated around 7pm. Food was excellent and service was friendly and efficient. A lovely experience.

Interlude by name, interlude by nature. We were so impressed by the journey of time this restaurant took us on, from the old manor estate with splashes of modern art; to the playlist championing the classics alongside new age songs, that set the mood over the course of the meal; to the traditional fine dining style menu embellished with Afrikaans dishes. Every detail was perfectly considered. Every element was meaningful, beautifully presented and so engaging you are drawn into the complex flavours that every palate can enjoy. A real stand out for us, was that the meat and vegetarian menus were both just as exceptional. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, serving with what seemed to be effortless perfection. Although they don't do a wine pairing, we asked the sommelier to give us his recommendations and we were not disappointed, his taste and pairings were tantalising. Thank you for such a perfect interlude.

Fantastic tasting menu experience in a beautiful setting. Each course was both delicious and fascinating (the accompanying info cards are a wonderful touch) with unexpected ingredients foraged from the extensive gardens. Service was impeccable and, whilst Michelin thinks it worth a stop, we will happily repeat this special journey again.
