Waited over 1.5hours for cold, bland food. No real flavours. All curries tasted the same. Coconut rice was watery. £65 wasted. Avoid.
Following new ownership of the former Acle Spice takeaway, we are pleased to welcome the prospect of a new (& improved) indian takeaway. Starting with the website, it is of a similar platform to other local takeaways, easy to navigate and we found an accurate time frame for collection. Within the shop front it is still the same dreary and dilapidated waiting area with as with the previous owners. The boy at front front of house was very positive and friendly, no rushing and using my name as identified from the order which was great. The food was piping hot and well presented in their respective tubs. We had more papadums than ordered, however my wife surrendered hers to me as their was nothing to go on it like onion salad or the red sauce which provided every else without request. The taste was good and I would have given a higher score if the set meal for 2 had an alternative to bombay aloo and sag aloo. I did request anything else as an alternative on the point of ordering but this was not acknowledged and we had left the 2x potato dishes as a result which was disappointing. All said it is an improvement over the previous owners, that I hope pick up the points identified.
We've been coming to Acle spice regularly over the past 2-3 years since moving round this way. It has always been consistent. It isn't the ritz, it does exactly what you want it to do - makes and delivers curry! A lot of the reviews that I see that are negative are from tourists/people who order just "butter chicken" or Korma :'D I recommend the Tandori Mela, it's a huge variety of tandori meat and I just get an extra naan - with the mint/yoghurt dip it's incredible. Yes, sometimes deliver can be a bit late but the food is always piping hot and they are a small business. I strongly recommend :)
Delivery half hour late(two hours in total) missing two portions of rice. Butter chicken was bright pink and tasted very sweet (disgusting). Lamb Rogan Josh was so tough as to be almost inedible Very disappointed and do not recommend this place unless you wish to waste your money.
Would have zero stars if I could. I’ve ordered from these guys for over 15 years spending £15-£45 in an order to be collected or delivered. Had the odd issue from things not being delivered and wondering whether to wait for everything to get cold and wait for to be delivered. Once it’s finally been delivered the inconsistency from dish to dish with how spicy it is is obvious. Obviously they have different cooks on different days. However, having these issues I always ordered from these guys. My latest order will be my last. I called after a very busy and long day at work on a Sunday evening. I asked for the order to be delivered, gave the order over the phone and asked for the price. Soon as I hung up I realised they hadn’t asked for my address. Called them back and said I wanted That order to be delivered. Omg is all I can say… it appeared instantly that this was a problem for them as I received a large amount of complaint as to why I hadn’t stated this. I had, at the very beginning. There was no way after the day I had I was going to pick up. After many a conversation someone else came on the phone and the order was finalised. So, I went to the local shop to get some bits and got £25 cash back as was told the order would be £22.35, thinking it was a half decent tip for the driver. (I’ve delivered Indian takeaways myself so know about tipping). Driver arrived and said the order was £26 something. I stated I literally have £25 cash and explained why. The driver accepted the money and went on his way. Thought no problems. After the 3rd missed call from Acle Spice I called them back, baring in mind I was still eating my takeaway. He told me I short changed the driver. I told him that yes I did as I was paying the price quoted at ordering. He then told me that they do not always tell customers of their order value and it’s my fault. I told him that I’ve been ordering from him for decades and he is now arguing with me, as I eat, about just over £1 difference. Pathetic! Soon as I told him how much we order from him he was all nice and apologetic. Tough luck buddy, Blofield Heath will be gettin our business from know on and treat their customers better than Acle Spice ever did. Never had a problem with the guys in Blofield Heath.
One of the best curry’s we’ve had for a long time. Food arrived in good time, was hot, decent portion sizes and most importantly really tasty!
As always, had an absolutely epic Indian Takeaway from this firm favourite. These guys always knock it out of the ball park. We’ve never had a bad meal and a always impressed by their customer service. Thankyou!
Really disappointing meal, no flavour, portion sizes are much smaller than they used to be, papadoms well over cooked. Mint and yogurt sauce has clearly been watered down. Definitely the last time I order from here. Even my puppy who literally eats sticks, turned her nose up at the chapati!
Last night we ordered from Acle Spice and whilst not major regulars we do have quite a few from there. First I was told I could not have salad without cucumber as it was already added, so I suggested they make a fresh one without I was told this was not possible. When we got home we realised that an order of onion bhajis was missing, we phoned and they said they would deliver them. Now I come to the food which was without doubt the worst Indian meal I have ever had. I have no idea what has happened to Acle Spice but it was always good food apart from this time. The salad consisted of a bag of chopped onion, the lamb Bhuna and chicken tikka masala had very little flavour as did the chicken tikka which was pale and insipid in colour. Also the portion size is dramatically smaller whilst prices have gone up which I don’t mind paying if the food is good but this most definitely is not good food. People work hard for their money and at over £60 this was a total waste of my money. Will never order from them again and looking at the reviews other people are having similar issues without the owner taking any responsibility for the poor food.
