Went for lunch, the food was lovely and the staff couldn't do enough for us. Coal fire was a lovely touch.

As always an exceptional carvery. Meat cooked to perfection, best yorkshires, freshly prepared vegetables, homemade gravy & all the accompaniments . Wonderful wait staff. Plenty of space around tables. Can't recommend highly enough!

Went for a midweek dinner with a small baby and was very impressed with the quality of food and the friendliness of the George. Foodwise we had two smoky, tender rump steaks, 10 and 20oz with all the sides and salad bar and were well worth the price as they felt great quality and nicwly cooked. Nice selection of well priced house wines and Welsh beer. Staff were extremely welcoming and service was quick. Definitely would come back for some of the steak specials!

A local treasure with really well prepared and plentiful food. Good choice of food options throughout the menu. Lovely old pub, oak beams, open fires in the winter, a real old in perfectly preserved. Staff and waiting service were friendly and professional. Parking is a bit of an issue, but best if you book ahead as its seriously popular.

The food I had was delicious, but..... No vegan starters, 3 vegan mains, the usual curry, lasagne and burger, not much imagination but I suppose a choice of sorts. For desert there was lemon sorbet or vanilla ice-cream, both vegan but that was it and I was charged the same price as others having cake and ice-cream £5.95 and to finish off they put a flake in the ice-cream, I asked if it was vegan as I doubted it, they assured me it was. It wasn't, they don't make a vegan flake, vegetarian yes, but not vegan. Will I be returning? Not unless things change. I'm no chef and I can make several vegan cakes and countless starters and mains. Must try harder!

We all went for a Sunday lunch and to celebrate my father in law’s 91st birthday, it was just fantastic. We were served by the lovely Katy who always made sure that everyone was just fine and she was around almost all the time to just look after us. The service was amazing and the carvery was so delicious. I also met the owner, Sean and we had a good chat. He told me that he bought the place 3 months ago and he was an excellent host. The dessert was also so good, so all in all, it was a brilliant afternoon. Thank you guys, and for sure see you soon

Absolutely gorgeous amazing food (wish I had taken photos). Food was cooked to perfection and presented very well. Best peppercorn sauce ever. Staff were very polite & friendly. Absolutely will be going back and most definitely cannot wait to try their carvery Sunday lunch. Plenty of parking, the theme of the pub was a great read about the history of the pub itself.
