Highly recommend the fox now it has been taken over. Atmosphere is friendly but lively and the food is excellent. Drink is very well priced so give it a go.

As someone who travelled quite a distance to this pub for a relaxing evening and a bit of karaoke, I was extremely disappointed by the conduct I witnessed from the landlord and his staff. During the karaoke, the landlord publicly told a customer to “shut up” over the microphone in front of everyone. This was not only deeply unprofessional but also humiliating for the individual involved, who had simply joined in singing. When the customer approached the landlord to address the way he had been spoken to, the situation quickly became heated and instead of being de-escalated, it was made worse. The landlord’s daughter then got aggressively involved, raising her voice and getting into an older woman’s face. It reached the point where another member of the public had to physically step in and remind them that this was not how to treat paying customers. As someone who has visited before and supported this venue, I was shocked and disappointed by the lack of professionalism, respect, and basic courtesy shown. This kind of behaviour breaches several key principles of The Licensing Act 2003, which requires all licensed premises to promote the following objectives: • Prevention of public disorder – staff should de-escalate situations, not inflame them. • Public safety – aggressive behaviour from staff creates an unsafe environment. • Prevention of public nuisance verbal altercations and shouting over a microphone disrupt the enjoyment of others. It also falls short of expected standards under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which requires services to be carried out with reasonable care and skill. Publicly humiliating or confronting customers clearly fails this standard. This experience has completely changed my view of the venue. What should have been a fun, relaxing night turned into something uncomfortable and unpleasant. Sadly, I won’t be returning and it’s a real shame, as it once had the potential to be a welcoming and enjoyable place for visitors.

Booked for 7.30 food came at 9.15 ! Asked to be moved as there was an 18 th birthday party and it was very noisy. A very nice girl organised it. They put us in a back room so why the party could not have gone there I have no idea. It would have made more sense. The Manageress ( I assume that’s who it was ) was as miserable as sin .. didn’t smile once! I think they had booked in too many people as they were obviously struggling. Young staff were very pleasant Food good but far too dear for what you actually got ! It’s a shame as this is such a wonderful pub and I have many happy memories over the years

Been a while since we have been and it's newly decorated and new layout. Food is good and staff extremely helpful. Definitely worth popping into although parking could be an issue as not much parking space but great atmosphere.

We went there for a Sunday lunch on the back of reading these reviews. Wow it was a beautiful roast dinner. One of the best we have had, none of this rubbish you get at certain carveries. The meat and vegetables were really good and the service was excellent and so friendly. We will be back soon.
