We enjoyed our visit here on the last day of our trip. Luckily a very short time to be seated (around 4:30pm) and the uniqueness of the experience was worth the high prices (with our gold pass discount). The food was fresh and tasty, service friendly and efficient. The lighting can get quite flashy, so if you're photosensitive it might not be suitable.
Fun but expensive (as you would expect). A vegetarian kids option would be great and maybe a couple of healthier options. A soft drink that isn't fizzy (simple squash) would be good. That said the food was nice, the ordering was simple and the rollercoaster worked.
This is a restaurant that is located inside the Alton towers theme park, it's set amongst some of the theme parks fastest and most exciting rollercoasters in the Forbidden valley section. It's one of the restaurants that takes reservations for hotel guests to dine at for the evening meal. Great for day visitors to access for a quick fast food meal and cold drinks. Plenty of seating available with some outdoor seats available
I’m going to send the chef my dental bill for new teeth ! How do you mess up curly fries and fries , by batch cooking too many and dropping then re dropping or re frying too many times . The menu is easy its mostly fry with 0 presentation it’s all in pots - get your portion control correct communicate as a team and look after your oil it’s should be simple . Even managed to mess up the birthday bit sent the birthday cake first . no teddy no song . When you’re paying 22 pound for this relatively simple task it’s simple and can make or break the day -thanks for breaking ours . Overpriced fried food you can’t get right it’s embarrassing.
The atmosphere is lovely. The experience of getting your food served on a rollercoaster is what you go there for and just that bit is next to nothing. As for the food, it is a fairly simple menu and it was prepared well. I just couldn't get around the fact that a basic burger and fries cost £19. A meal for two adults and two children with drinks can easily touch close to £80 plus. I'm happy to have done it once - this is that type of a restaurant. You will experience it once and tick it off from your list.
The main pull for this restaurant is the novelty factor of your food coming down on the rails. Food is ordered on a tablet, the children love this element. You select your seat number, make your selection and send it to the kitchen, then the next person has their turn. Food then comes down the rollercoaster rails with your seat number on it. It is fun to watch your food do they same as you have done all day. It somewhere you go once to say you've done it. The food is ok but not great, not very hot. The portion size are quite small for an adult. For the price there are better value offerings in the park or hotels. It can also get very noisy at time, so something to consider if there are people in your party who have trouble with loud environments.
Really good concept and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We visited outside of park hours (7:30pm) and the restaurant was half full. We got seated immediately (reservation is required) and handed a tablet that we could order from. We spent roughly £55 including 1x starter, 2x mains, 2x cocktails, x1 dessert and 1x soft drink. We did get 10% off with our merlin annual pass (silver) 20% if you have a gold pass. Which helps bring the prices down. It's not the cheapest but then again for theme park pricing it wasn't too bad. I had the shredded beef burger which was amazing and my partner had the pasta which she enjoyed. Halloumi starter was spot on and the Boost Bar Brownie was great to share. We waited about 10 minutes from ordering for our food to arrive via the tracks from the kitchen. It's quite fun watching your food arrive in this style. Overall if you're staying in the hotels I would definitely recommend a visit. It's a unique experience you won't get anywhere else.
We called I to the roller coaster restaurant bout 15.30pm at the time we started queuing it was bout 15.10pm. We waited bout 20mins for a table we went in got shown our table then a lovely lady came across and show us how to order on the tablet. We ordered our food and drinks the cokes came down on the roller coaster, but if you order beers they get brought over to the table for you. We waited bout 15-20mins for the food. They sent the children's meals down first then bout 5mins later they sent the adults food. Yes the restaurant is expensive for the drinks and food but it's very well worth the money. Our order came over £100 but I would definitely go there again. Recommend it to everyone
Service was sub-par; had to request cutlery to eat: sadly three out of four of us were able to eat as - after 40 minutes waiting and three waiter staff queries it turns out that my food was not going to arrive as it’s not available!!! With my brother and 2 children having eaten and the kids getting restless; I had to make the decision to leave without having eaten. Very disappointed. It spoilt the whole experience. Those that are found the chips to be very floury and the gravy was in a globule in the pot, spreadable not pourable. Great Stella and nice tracks though!
