We were seated in 1 of the Pullman Carriages, nice and warm on a cold damp day. Seen too nice and politely.Had the specials menu, 2 courses for £13 or 3 courses for £17. Food was served quickly and hot.

Afternoon tea was lovely. Plenty of food and a good selection of cakes! We sat in one of the train carriage. It was lovely and quirky. Would definitely recommend it.

Lovely place, very quaint and romantic and the food is fine but the service is incredibly slow. Seems slightly disorganized so you feel like you have been forgotten. Worth a trip though. The carriages are getting a little tired these days so it could do with a bit of maintenance. Decent amount of parking. Poor choice of ale and didnt serve bottles of prosecco which seemed odd.You probably need to go here before it is gone for good as the quirky carriages are definitely an experience.

Lunchtime visit during the week. We brought our dog, so we were located in a room on our own with no heating. We helped by lighting the fire and loading it with wood and coal. The staff provided an electric heater, but really it didn’t get warm during our visit. Food was ok, service was quick. Car park was empty when we arrived, but was full as a wake had arrived.

Great place for a meal . Have offers through out the week £12 for 2 courses £16 for 3 courses. There are tables inside, two old train coaches but be warned it’s very nice to sit in them for meals but you need to be quite slim to do so . There are other places to sit . It wasn’t to busy but.would still prebook. Staff were friendly . There quite a variety on the menu . There were so old traditional puddings available like banana split and chocolate fudge cake with mint custard that we were pleased about . I had lasagna it was a bit dry as been over microwaved but was nice . I would go back . There is a free car park on a bank . Quite easy to miss the turning for the car park . Each of us spent £20 for 2 courses and a drink. It was great for a catch-up and a chat . We stayed for 3 hours . Wouldn’t be able to do this at the weekend as it gets quite busy from what staff were saying.

3 of us visited Spot Gate Inn on a Saturday late afternoon after learning that it had changed hands back in 2022. One of us was in a wheel chair. They have a large carpark so parking wasn't an issue. Greeted by friendly welcoming staff. We were seated behind the bar area in what they called the snug. A cosy area of the restaurant next to an open fire. A welcome sight in such dismal weather. The menu has all the pub classics which can be seen on the website. It aims to offer good quality pub food nothing too high end which is quite often too high priced also. We had steaks and ham and eggs. All came promptly, hot, cooked well and delicious. To follow we had the classic hot chocolate fudge cake with custard and lemon meringue cheesecake. Sweet and delectable. Good selection of expected drinks on the menu. All round great country pub experience. Dogs also allowed. Accessibility is good considering it's an old stone building that is limited as to how it can be adapted. Highly recommended. Will be returning.

Went in to have a look around. Manager was really lovely and so were the staff. Santa's grotto is lovely. The carriages are brilliant. You half expect to pull.off the station. The food was amazing. I seriously couldn't move afterwards. Not had good pub grub like that for a while. Friendly environment and highly recommend. Can't wait to go again
