Excellent value real ales (£4.50-£4.80/pint) and a tasty pie supper (£14.75)...a good quality Beef and Beer pie, full of meat, peas and gravy! Friendly staff and locals!

23/11/25: Interesting cafe/bar selling a range of pub classic meals and beers and it’s dog friendly. The staff are very friendly and it showed as there seemed to be a number customers who seemed to be regular visitors. Well worth a visit if in Brecon.
Thoroughly enjoyed - food, service, atmosphere all 10/10. We visited during a short break to the Brecon Beacons after seeing the great reviews and being recommended in our B&B's guidebook (Coach House). We were not disappointed! The pies are among the best we've ever had! Well-filled, quality ingredients and excellent pastry. The mash, root veg and chips were all delicious too. I also treated myself to dessert (apple crumble cake) which was extremely tasty. Service was friendly and very efficient. There was great atmosphere too, lively and positive. We are sad that we aren't staying long enough to visit again!
One of the best if not the best beef pies I’ve had. Simply awesome. (Note - photos are of the small pies - big enough for a decent lunch!) Decent beer selection also with good advice from the barman to help select the right one. I’d definitely return!
Brilliant bar. We had a great run over the Brecon Beacons then came here for a few beers. Really friendly place and awesome beer. I Come in and say hello to Will.
Lovely waitress and absolutely delicious food. We got the chorizo and chicken pies and chips and BBQ beans as sides. Very large portions and the beans were fab! There was a small mistake with our order but the staff were quick to correct it and were very polite. I’d definitely come here again!
Searched for somewhere to eat in Brecon and chanced on The Hop In…what a fantastic find! The food was incredible and such good value for money very high quality and well presented! Great beer choices, friendly staff! For such a small place they found us a table ( family of 5) and made us feel very welcome we will be back x
Decent meal at Brecon Tap. We had the chicken pie with mash and then the beef burger with bbq beans. The bbq beans were great but the burger was very small and very dry. The pie was a great size and lovely. It was a shame though as most of the menu was out when we came but understandable. A bit more on the expensive side for what you get but decent meal and friendly staff.
Great place, always clean and tidy with great food and the best Mocha in town...and there is some good competition for that accolade. They get five stars though because the staff there are just so consistently friendly and accommodating, top marks. Good clean toilets too and they have a couple of outside tables.
