There was a really long wait for our food; the staff were very apologetic and gave us complimentary bread, but we also didn't have any drinks menus on the table (when we asked for one, we were told they were on the table, which was not the case), and when we ordered we asked for water for the table which was forgotten too. I can only assume the establishment was understaffed that day, or had something go terribly wrong in back of house during service. The food was delicious - we would go back and hope that the issues with service didn't happen again as the food really was great

One night stay here. Can not fault anything, our room was spotless and of high quality. The staff were friendly, pleasant, accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. We ate in the lounge bar in the evening and it was of high standard, and plenty on your plate. We sat by the fire and it was cosy and so relaxing, the whole hotel is decorated to a high standard. Cocktails were delicious. We would highly recommend and we will definitely stay again.

Having always enjoyed Pecks hospitality in the past we wanted to have a Christmas lunch with friends at Pecks but it seems that no longer happens unless you are a group of 10 or more people. On their suggestion we booked the Festive set Lunch at the Lion and Swan which is part of the Pecks group. BIG Mistake. Having waited some time to be taken to our Pre-booked table we were told we could not order the set meal as we were "not Pre-booked"(?) Finally they agreed we had actually pre-booked and all four of us ordered the "turkey with all the trimmings". 10 minutes later the server told us the turkey was not cooked so we could not have that. As our 2nd option we all went for Beef Blade with dauphinoise potatoes. 10 minutes later the same server came back to tell us they had no dauphinoise potatoes either and we would have to have roast potatoes. My wife asked for the Tomato and basil soup from the set meal as her starter. The server said the soup would be Butternut as that was the soup of the day. Eventually the miniscule starters arrived...lo and behold the soup was tomato and basil (!) - just about warm (certainly far from "hot") , no bread or garnish. Fortunately the mains were pretty good (albeit with the substitute potatoes) and the day was just about redeemed by the excellent and generous desserts. To summarize, this place needs to get its act together and quickly - our experience was very disappointing and a LONG way from the standards we expect from the Pecks group of companies.

I booked a one-night stay here during a business trip, thinking it would be simple: check in, grab a bite, go to sleep. Oh, how wrong I was. Arrived at reception… and waited. And waited. And waited. I’m convinced I aged at least two tax years standing there while every waiter and bar staff made direct eye contact with me like I was a ghost they all agreed not to acknowledge. After a casual 20 minutes (which I assume is their standard “warm welcome”), someone finally decided to check me in. The room looked nice at first glance, but the sheets gave me the vibe that the previous guest might still be spiritually attached to them. Not exactly the fresh, crisp hotel linen experience you’d hope for. Then I made the brave decision to go to the bar for a drink and some food. And by “go to the bar,” I mean “stand very still and hope a staff member detects my existence.” The young bartender was deeply committed to his cocktail-shaking performance — an art form so intense that acknowledging an actual customer would clearly ruin his creative flow. When I finally managed to ask for a food menu, I was informed that they don’t serve food in the bar. Bar seating everywhere… but no food. Completely logical. I then asked if the restaurant had any tables available. The bartender kindly responded with the customer service equivalent of “don’t know, don’t care, go find out yourself.” After giving him my best “really?” face, he reluctantly asked a colleague, who confirmed: no tables. So to summarise: Bar with plenty of seats = no food. Restaurant with no tables = no food. My stomach = abandoned. Truly a unique hospitality experience. If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to be professionally ignored while hungry and confused — this hotel has mastered the craft. Bravo.

On 25th October we had our wedding at the Lion & Swan, WOW it was certainly 5 stars!! After 8 years of being engaged and looking at sooo many venues, we randomly stumbled on The Lion & Swan and when we came for a viewing we knew it was what we were searching for. During the whole time planning our wedding Liam has been great, he is so attentive and nothing is too much trouble! Our wedding day was amazing and went smoothly. The venue is just stunning and even more so with wedding decor. The food was delicious!! Downstairs at Radleys is the perfect place for an evening reception which creates the best atmosphere for a party. Also all of our guests that stayed at the Venue commented on how lovely their bedrooms were and what a nice breakfast they had. We absolutely loved having everything for our special day under one roof and wouldn’t change a thing! Thankyou so much Liam for all of your help and support. Hannah & Dan x

We went here last night for a meal with friends. The whole place was really beautiful, so nicely designed the interior was beautiful. We were welcomed and made to feel very relaxed. The staff taking our orders and bringing our food were all very friendly and helpful. The food was really delicious, and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend going here

I don’t normally leave reviews, but felt that the staff deserved it. We were bought a voucher as a gift and booked a room on top as a treat. From the moment we walked in we received excellent customer service, from the front of house team, to the bar staff and table staff. The room was lovely, clean, really comfortable bed. Breakfast was delicious and again, lovely service from a young team. I would recommend a trip here to anyone asking.

Friends and I went in for afternoon tea. Staff were very helpful and attentive. The portions of savoury, scones and cakes were very generous, delicious and followed by more than ample individual trifles. A lovely afternoon with friends made even better by the quality of food and thoughtful service. Would highly recommend thank you

No stay just food...! Waited 5 minutes to be seated on a Wednesday night, 15 minutes to get a drinks order (not busy and only 2 of us) Ordered drinks and food at the same time... meals came looked amazing .. found plastic in my seafood linguine... didn't make a fuss advised at the end of the meal as enjoyed it besides the big bit of plastic... advised the Waitress who was very attentive about it but then speaking to the chef "the butcher delivers the fish mix frozen" ... I never known a butcher to deliver fish but maybe if they deal in frozen! Never had a problem here before but definitely won't be rushing back after our visit.

I booked a single person room and it was very good. Not particularly large but it had all the amenities you could want including a coffee machine. I also ate in the restaurant and was more than happy with the food. The only downside was the room was at the front and was noisy once the traffic started. You can book direct and get a good price. Congleton is also a pretty town and clean.
