Ordered a fish & chips on a not very busy Monday afternoon, around 2 people were waiting & one was waiting for a kebab. It did look like a very nice kebab, and definitely a better choice than what I had. The Fish I had was undercooked & the fish itself was transparent & completely mushy. It was also tasteless, and slimy. The batter was simply horrendous. I’ve never seen ‘batter’ have the quality, texture & smell that this batter had. It was not crispy more of a ‘coating’ that had the outer texture of plasticine and the inside was again slimy, oily and not cooked. Whether the batter was supposed to be crispy I don’t know. We also had a battered sausage and the batter was exactly the same on that as well, more of a coating. The fish literally turned to a paste and was transparent, which is a clear sign of the fish not being cooked, their argument to this is that they buy the fish fresh daily. Ok? Still needs to be cooked. Their argument for the batter was that condensation made it that way, but unfortunately this isn’t the case. Incredibly I have eaten fish & chips before & I understand condensation does make the batter go slightly soggy in the middle of the fish, this is normal. The batter actually didn’t go soggy in the middle it retains its rubbery texture. Chips were okay. Definitely not the best, some were dry & some were undercooked as if they were mixing the old & new portions of cooked and then re-cooking them. The mushy peas were very watery. The curry sauce was plain. But that’s the least of their issues. If I was to point to an exact issue I would say the oil they are using is not hot enough to get the results they are loooking for. And they would rather say I’m incorrect than accept they have made a mistake, as someone experienced in both catering & hospitality this is simply not good. A refund was given after a brief exchange of him trying to reason for their poor effort. Not a full refund, my total was £16.40 something, just £15 was returned. I wish I took photos to put on here but I didn’t think to unfortunately. please avoid and go to a proper chippy!
Unfortunately I found a hair in my chips - definitely wasn't mine - not my colour! Please be hygiene conscious
Fantastic kebab and chicken wrap but chips were just awful what a shame!!
I had pie and chips, pie was soggy, undercooked and just warm. Chips were dry and obviously not recently cooked. Called to complain and was disappointed with the attitude, basically "Not their fault" Just moved to this area, will not be using this place again.
Lamb kebab special wasn’t so special. Chips weren’t great. Pizza was nice though.
I order fish and chips from Audley Fish Bar regularly and can never say I've had a bad experience. Fairly priced, good service and food is good quality. Can't comment on the kebab or burger as I havent had that before but the pizza, fish and chips is always good.
We ordered three separate meals. Two were ok but nothing special. I had lamb kebab, pitta bread and salad. I can honestly say that the lamb was the worst I have ever been served in my life. It was totally inedible and most of it ended up in the bin. I did phone to complain, but won't be going again.
We absolutely love this place! Can't fault them in anyway. Food is always great, super fast delivery and our order always arrives hot and correct everytime. Milkshakes are great, chips are amazing and finally somewhere that delivers a decent fish and pie. Not to mention the freebies when you spend a certain amount, great value for money. The staff are friendly and delivery drivers are a credit to the place! Hope it never changes!
