Fabulous location a stones throw from the golf course and cricket ground. Really close to Newcastle and not a million miles from attractions like Waterworld or Alton Towers. The main draw though is the strawberry picking nearby. You cant escape the rural location when the 12 and 13 year old tractor boys walk around. The food though and the decor are first class. Whilst sitting waiting we watched 10 or 12 different meals come out and we could have ate every single one. A big recommendation from me.

We popped in here for lunch on our way back from Woore. Very pleasantly suprised. Food was beautiful. I'd have enjoyed it more if the salmon with noodles was so spicy!! But, overall the place, service & food was amazing.

This is a lovely place to go for a wedding reception. The food was amazing. There was a vegan option precooked for me and it was really delicious and tasty food. Fresh local produce is used. They source as much local produce as possible, they partner with farms etc. Lots of variety and amazing hand made desserts. Even my vegan option was outstanding. I would definitely consider this venue for my wedding one day. It really was enjoyable. Everyone had a good time. No young children were invited which was great. Lots of parking. I don't know if they offer rooms to stay overnight. I never thought to enquire. I would definitely go back for a meal with family and friends or on a date!!

Our friends booked a room here to meet up for a meal. Table of 4 booked for 7pm on a Wednesday, after 40 minutes we had to ask for our order to be taken, the waitress replied that she would ask if the kitchen was ready for our order. We had been in the bar from 5.30pm, why not tell us to stay there or at least let us know when handing out the menu that the kitchen was busy rather than let us wait. Our food finally arrived about 8.30pm. I want to give the new management time to iron out any issues so probably wouldn't visit again for a couple of months. There's a friendly welcome if you're a local but we never feel welcome although we spent just under £400 on this visit.

Fantastic Sunday lunch at the Wheatsheaf. We had turkey, tasty and plentiful with perfectly cooked veg. Puddings were lovely, a really great selection of good quality ice cream appreciated as this is my favourite sweet. Friendly and helpful staff, well thought out decor and lovely atmosphere with DJ playing pleasant ambient music. Highly recommended !

Lovely little country inn let down only by its housekeeping. Beautifully decorated, lively food but our rooms were not cleaned properly, bins still full from last guest, toilet bowl and rim not cleaned and carpet not hoovered with bits of glass in carpet. Such a shame ..hope it was a one off. Breakfast was excellent ..they should make sure they hold onto their chef.

Great stay. Just stopped here to break up a journey on the way between Scotland and Dorset. Very happy with everything. The room was spotless with a comfy bed, great smart TV and my other half was massively impressed with the jacuzzi bath. Food was excellent and filling, dinner was good with decent choices and the beer good. Breakfast was really impressive with good quality bacon and sausages. Thanks to Carl and all the staff, we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.

We had the most excellent meal here, Sunday lunchtime but with an extensive menu. Our meals were both first class, the service was lovely and the drinks wonderful. A truly delicious experience, we will certainly be visiting again.
