As soon as I walked into this establishment I was greeted by the most bubbly and kind young lady. I believe her name was Tiff. The service I received from her was the best I have ever had at the old red lion. The Sunday roast was absolutely amazing and very flavourful - compliments to the chef
The venue was excellent, and I thoroughly enjoyed the food. The service was particularly commendable; our server, Tiffany, was friendly, professional, and pleasant to converse with, which greatly enhanced the overall experience. I will certainly be returning.
What a pub! They have such a range of beer, delicious pub grub, and pleasant service. Honestly, this review goes out to Chris and Jordan, both were 10/10 when it came to serving me some top quality Asahi, making sure the pub stays clean, and are attentive to their customers needs. A must-stop in Holmes Chapel.

Myself and my husband came here for lunch as an anniversary date. We had the fixed price 3 courses - we had beer battered mushrooms, haddock fishcakes and a mac and cheese, and sticky toffee pudding with custard. We enjoyed a pot of tea each and a couple of coffees - they were worth coming in for alone, if you've only got a short time to spare All the food was lovely, came out steaming hot and cooked fresh. The service was great, we didn't feel rushed or pressured to leave once we had finished. We also weren't bombarded with queries about how the meal was, whilst we were eating. Top notch! Would recommend and definitely will be returning.
My favourite place to visit whilst out for a walk in the village. Dog friendly, excellent service and gorgeous food. The team are always so welcoming and attentive. The best dish has to be the sausage and mash, the bangers are top quality! Props to the kitchen team. Special mention to George, Chloe and Emma. They always have a smile on their face when i walk in! Just overall a lovely place.
We enjoy coming here for a relaxed meal in a good atmosphere and nice surroundings. Food is always good and the staff are friendly and helpful. It does get busy at weekend so I would book if you want to dine.
We visited the Red Lion for dinner recently and had a good visit. It was busy so at the weekend I would recommend booking. Very reasonably priced food and drinks with good offers. The service was quite slow but they looked understaffed so not their fault. I would recommend ordering food & drink at the bar rather than through the app as this took substantially longer to arrive when done this way. Overall a good visit though and would return.
We had heard about the live music here on Wednesday afternoons and thought we'd give it a try. We were not disappointed! We had so much fun in the company of cheerful, talented musicians and also got a really warm welcome from the lovely locals too. The staff were helpful, knowledgeable and friendly and served up top quality drinks with a smile. Great atmosphere and a thoroughly enjoyable experience, we'll be back at the Old Red Lion soon!
