We went to The Loopy Shrew for Christmas meal. It was extremely busy and there wasn't much space to move in the bar area. The food however arrived quickly and was very tasty. It was a good meal and the drinks were nice, but a little expensive.
We stayed in the Darwin suite which was spotless clean tastefully decorated and had everything you might need and more. The bed was lovely and comfortable and the included breakfast delicious. Excellent value for money. The hotel has a restaurant/bar downstairs which was very popular in a central location in the heart of beautiful Shrewsbury. Staff were friendly and helpful and overall excellent stay in a lovely hotel thank you.
Fantastic stay at the Loopy Shrew. All staff were very welcoming and attentive. Room comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast was fabulous. Cocktails great. And live music in the bar was a bonus treat on Sunday night. Highly recommended
Just went for dinner, no accommodation. Service was great. Waiting staff for nice and professional and friendly. Food was absolutely divine, with a varied meat free menu as well as the meaty options. I had the vegan Thai green curry. It was delicious! Lots of vegetables, very well made. Hungry thinking about it
We visited the Loopy Shrew after being let down last minute for our booking at the Peach Tree for our trustee christmas lunch. We called yesterday morning and they accommodated us straight away and got us booked in short notice for a party of 7. When we were there the staff were attentive and lovely, the food was gorgeous and it was a great experience and atmosphere
Had seen the posts and foodie shots so had to give it a try when we visited. Nice and easy to get to and great central location. We can highly recommend the cocktails (£9 and upwards) as we had a fair few really interesting and cool flavours. The food was good, well presented and good sized portions. The dessert menu on the night was a smidge uninspiring (usual stuff) and a couple menu items were unavailable so we opted for dessert cocktails.
The food was nice and the portions were generous, however the service wasn’t great. One of the waiters wiped the table, however it still had bits of food on it when we sat down. Food took about 40 minutes, which I wouldn’t have minded if we were told on arrival that there was a wait for food. Once we had finished our food, we waited ages again for our table to be cleared. Numerous of times members of staff looked at our plates and walked past. Once one of the waitresses finally cleared our plates I asked for the bill and requested for the 10% service charge to be taken off the final bill as I wanted to pay a smaller amount in cash. The waitress ignored my request and brought over the receipt with the 10% service charge added to the bill, she didn’t say anything just put it on the table and swiftly walked off. At this point I simply got up and paid at the bar. It’s a shame because last time I came here both the food and service was good.
What an amazing place to eat and stay. The staff are all brilliant,very friendly and helpful. The bedrooms have everything you need for a great nights stay. I stayed in a single room,the bed was really comfy. Love the fact that there were ear plugs for use in case it got too noisy. The hotel is on a busy main street,but I slept very well and never heard any noise.The breakfast was fantastic and very well presented. Would definitely stay here again.
